:hi: Good day everyone

As a new member of the boards I thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce myself. I'll be attending your fine institution next year and while over the past couple months I've immersed myself in all things Vols, as an out of state student I'm still a neophyte in the ways of the Vol.

So let me ask this one question,
I know its great to be a Tennessee Vol but what makes being a Tennessee Vol so great?

:hi:

Everything about being a Vol is great. You'll know what we're talking about when you talk into Neyland Stadium and are part of 105,000+ orange screaming fans or Thompson-Boling and are part of 20,000+ orange screaming fans.

Are you from Pennsylvania? If so, why did you decide to come to UT?

Welcome to VolNation, once you join the family, you never turn back.

What makes it so great? Going to Neyland Stadium on a hot fall afternoon, tailgating for hours, getting into the stadium early, watching the band, hearing 108,000 fans simultaneously singing Rocky Top, and the rush of adrenaline and goosebumps you get as the Vols come running through the opening of the T. Or is it just wearing orange everyday and not getting sick of it? Or is it heading down to the newly renovated Tompson Boling Arena in your orange basketball jersey with candy striped pants on, standing until the Vols make their first basket? What about the fact that the university is nestled between the beautiful countryside and mountains, along with the city life of Knoxville all right in reach. Surely there is nothing better than to be a Tennessee Volunteer!!!

Welcome to the board.

Attend one UT game and you'll see why. Make sure to catch the pregame stuff, like the Vol Walk, etc. Once they run through the T and the fireworks go off, and you first walk in and see the sea of orange, you'll get it. I could post pics too, but honestly it's one of those things you have to see in person to appreciate. You will get goosebumps.

yeah I'm from PA born a 'Burgher but trapped in the east, I first became interested in UT when my grandparents moved to Knoxville. I visited the university and really fell in love with the place, It has a great public policy school and that is the field i'm going into and from what i've seen it does a great job of giving students small school attention within a large spirited university. Plus the tuition is reasonable even for an out of state student(almost cheaper than penn state)

and i'm sure you all will be happy to learn that i've always hated Alabama(never understood why espn gave so much love to a 6-6 team) and Florida(SOOOOOOO many band wagon fans)

If it was up to me I'd have Gus Johnson jump ship to ESPN for this game, then again if I had it my way Gus Johnson would announce every sporting event I watched, The man could make chopping wood or even devils hockey exicting

I saw that we are being preceded by Fresno State... their game starts at like 4:30 I think. Let's just hope it doesn't run over the time slot.

I love football and I'm grateful fate has allowed me to follow and have a unique connection with a team that has the tradition and success UT has had, and I'm also grateful that I have avoided the awfulness that is penn state football, penn state is the bama of the north
Very well said. The Volunteers have no love for the Nittany Lions.
