McCain or no one else was beating Obama on 2008.

Kasich has a good conservative record from his time in the house and he has been a very good governor that stands on his principles.
He does not have a record of flip flopping. He can pull the sides together which is what we desperately need.
Romney has the spine of a worm, he has never saw a side of an issue that he hasn't been on.
You cannot compare Kasich to either McCain or Romney.

Kasich would cause many conservatives to stay at home and not vote. He is an Open Borders republican.

What about the Canadian?
They may want to keep him around to take anti-establishment votes away from Trump for now. They will get around to him at some point, but he won't be an easy out.
The Repub Party big money donors would rather have Hillary than Trump or Cruz, due to the TPP and amnesty.

Negative.

The conservatives would gladly show up in record numbers to vote because they despise the ground Hillary walks on.
Add the moderate votes and Kasich would win by a landslide.

What a twisted Web we have in 2016.

Chris Christie has suspended his presidential campaign. Yea someone put him up to stabbing Rubio in the debate.

Is the "open borders" moniker applied to everyone who isn't as extreme on the issue as Trump? Serious question. I haven't heard anything from any candidate that is anywhere close.
It applies to anyone who isn't serious about stopping illegal immigration. The Republican Party establishment is not. Check out the co-chair of the People for a New American Economy.

Look it up, and see what they advocate. The co-chair is Rupert Murdoch, the head of Fox. That is why they are after Trump. That, and the TPP.

I'd like to know what exactly was conservative about accepting medicaid funding associated with Obamacare?

Those who support Kasich should realize that, like Romney, he cannot make a comprehensive argument against Obamacare when he chose to back an essential element of it.

Kasich tried hiding behind Reagan on this one. But there is a key difference:

This isn't a free market argument, to be sure, but at the same time, it's important to remember that Reagan was working with a Democratic-controlled House of Representatives. In contrast, Kasich has a Republican legislature he bypassed that legislature to ram through the Medicaid expansion over lawmakers' strong objections.

I really don't see how you can call someone a conservative who ignores the conservatives in his state to radically expand the size and scope of government influence on peoples' lives. There is making deals with Democrats and winning key concessions, as Reagan frequently did in his time in office. And then there is surrendering your stated principles as an opponent of Obamacare and giving the left everything they wanted in your state. This is what Kasich did in Ohio and what he would do as President.

No better than McConnell and Boehner.

Kasich is probably the most electable candidate for the general and would be a non controversial POTUS. I see him as a status quo guy, all the cans would be kicked down the road with no real fixes to our problems. Most likely a 1 term guy.

Oh come on after Trump? That's absurd

Legacy of Chris Christie:
Hugging and praising Obama leading into 2012 election.
Attacking Rubio and twisting the knife before bailing out.
Hugging Hillary Clinton after.

The Bush/Rockefeller wing never minds stabbing conservatives in the back.

When it comes to standing up to Democrats, however, they never mind getting on their knees and begging for mercy.

Conservatives are their enemies. Democrats are their governing partners.

Its becoming abundantly clear to me that Clinton has bought many leaders of the black community. Leaders who are IMO one of the bigger problems for African Americans today.

She's basically succeeded in portraying a champion of the civil rights movement as someone who is disinterested in modern race relations. While having no such history herself, other than being the wife of the 'first black president'

Would you stay at home if Bernie was running against him? Would you really risk your wallet getting raided because you have a few policy discrepancies with Kasich?
I don't have a problem with Kasich per se. Would I stay home? I honestly don't know. I came away from the 2004 election with hope that the Republicans would do something to fix some systemic problems in the country, since they controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency.

After the disappointment of 2004 , I decided that if Republicans were going to govern like Democrats, I might as well sit at home, and let Democrats get elected.

By 2008, I reluctantly went to the polls to try to stop what I feared would be a disaster in Barack Obama. Same thing in 2012. I am disillusioned because I have decided that both parties are bought by the pretty much the same people.

Whether or not I vote this time, depends on whether or not I think that there is a prayer of changing things. Kasich is establishment, so not much changes.

A two term governor that gives up redistricting power to Democrats, appoints liberals to state court positions, holds court over nine credit downgrades, and backs Sonya Sotomayor for the Supreme Court?

Might as well vote Sanders.

That's one of my major qualms with him - especially that he circumvented the legislature. The religion excuse that he used doesn't really jibe with me either.

I do like the fact that he's been a veritable wizard with budgets both in Congress and Ohio, and that he's running a respectful and positive campaign. A hell of a lot better than Hillary.

Cruz is probably the closest to me ideologically, but I'm going to have to get past how slimy he is to cast a vote for him.

The way I see it, the only way we get major change is if both parties somehow nominate extremists. The establishment is too entrenched.

Kasich strikes me as the best establishment candidate in terms of managing things more efficiently. Rubio is probably the best in terms of charisma and whatnot. Clinton if you want status quo. So on.
