New Football Training Center in the works

It isn't anything fancy, but it serves its purpose. A place to train out of the elements. It's hot, but no sun and no rain.

I'm not sure how you can improve on a warehouse with a field in it.

On UT's campus, turn it into a warehouse that packs and stacks cars.

The indoor field blows. The only plus to it is that, in the rain, it's not wet. During the summer, it's as hot, if not hotter, than outdoors.

I've spent 7 or 8 weeks at UT football camps in past years. If you think that it's hotter inside than it is out you're lost. When they turn on the big fans there's a constant wind blowing through the place. No sun beating down on you. A new facility would be great but this one is still just fine.

You know, as well as I do, that that place blows. I'd just blow it up and drop in another parking lot. God knows we need that more

If you're a student, I understand wanting more parking. If you're just a fan, the exercise during the long walk to the stadium could probably do you some good. Otherwise, ante-up to park close. The place does not "blow". It's dated but still one of the finest in the country.

The field blows? It's the best artificial surface on the market. They can't grow grass inside.

So you just want them to not have an indoor facility at all? Because, in your opinion, it's not as nice as you think it should be?

I'll ask you the same question that I asked Rex, how many other SEC practice facilities have you been in? Other indoor complexes period?

I've worked in ours. The humidity in there is ridiculous. That's all I'm saying.

I'm a student, and it does blow.

What exactly is it that makes it "blow". How much time have you spent in there and have you done more than just look in the door?

I've been in there late summer, and with the fans NOT on, it's hot and humid. Just because the sun isn't beating in doesn't mean the humidity in there doesn't balance out what the temperature feels like.

The fans on in the summer make it much more bearable.

Of the indoor facilities I've been in, only one had actual air conditioning in the field area and it was still hot. The fans that most schools use are more efficient than the AC unit at the one I've been at.

Well I was in there for hours, multiple times. The fans were never on, and it was unbearable. I've never sweated that much in my life. It was like a sauna, but without the relaxation.

It's a practice facility, not a day-spa. People who want to practice football in a/c blow. The greenhouse at the Opryland Hotel isn't being used. It's really nice and cool in there. Our players probably wouldn't even break a sweat, as long as they can swim. I'm sorry crusse10, but you come across as a WHINY A$$.

It's going to be attached to the current neyland thompson sports complex (on holdsclaw dr). They're doing construction on it now.

Have you ever played football and gone through 2-A-Days?

OK. You can't stand the heat of a facility made for football players to condition inside of (which no coach in his right mind will train players under A/C due it being that much harder on them when they do have to go outside, which is every practice.)

What else is it that "blows"?

I hope they improve the trophy area and put them in a special place either in Neyland or New sports complex. The one now looks like an after thought

the current facility is beat. I was in there last year and was shocked at how worn it is.

Fam friend is @ camp right now (today) and said it was hotter in the indoor facility than on Haslam field. THAT'S CRAZY! Heat index outside was 100+ iirc.

I've never gone through 2-a-days. Does it matter to me? Nope. I know how to work hard, and I know what's it's like to work till you drop. My statement still stands. That building is a sauna, and it's hotter in there than it is outside. You told me I was dumb and that it was incorrect. Seems to me like you lost the argument, so instead, you're attacking my credibility. Whether or not I've been in 2-a-days, it doesn't change the fact that I know what it's like to understand the temperature.
And as for the line about a coach in his right mind blah blah blah...Why have it at all, then? Unless you're in the SEC championship game, you'll never have to worry about playing indoors. Football players play in the elements. Screw them. Make them stay outside, regardless.

But what do I know. I'm just a moron who doesn't know anything because I'm not you.
Good day, sir. :hi:

Because you don't get anything accomplished in practice in a downpour. Ask Georgia. They routinely have to cancel practice and just do conditioning when there are thunderstorms or downpour rain.

So now you don't like football players? I'm confused. They shouldn't be allowed to use it?

I'm fairly sure I'd still take Oregon's facilities with Nike money

I agree. I think Tenn needs to drop addidas and pick up Nike.. But Phill Knight is giving his all for Oregon. Gave UO $400Million to spend on the actual school and anything else they wanted...
