Cannot wait for the new football training facility to open, I think its going to make recruits drool. I mean seriously, they can do everything at this facility besides class and sleep, which im sure they could if they really wanted to. Its the holy grail for college football players.....GBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember a few years ago when ESPN did a huge thing on the Florida updates to their facility. This should warrant a whole week of coverage compared to the minor upgrades Florida did.

No, VFL. Look, please don't misunderstand me. I am THRILLED with the new training center. I think it's incredible and I'm damn proud that UT has it. However if it were facilities alone that determined top 5 recruiting classes, Oregon and Texas would have the #1 classes every year. It takes so much more than that. First of all it takes a team of coaches who are committed and relentless in pursuing prospects. The relationships they establish, not only with the player but the player's families is crucial and probably THE biggest factor. Second, there is no better recruiting tool that W I N N I NG! Let's be honest, most of your blue chip athletes want to go somewhere where they feel they have the best shot of winning a title and getting to "the league." If your program is not doing at least one of those 2 things, you're not going to have highly rated recruiting classes.

Having said all that, I have no doubt that recruits will be blown away by the training center. Just don't count on that to be the deciding factor for these kids. They still want to win.

True, but I think it can and will be the deciding factor between kids who are evenly split on several schools. That is where facilities, tradition, geography and other intangibles become very important.

If I were a prospect who had no real allegiance, and my decision was evenly split among several schools, it would STILL come down to which school gives me the best chance to win a national title and get to the NFL. If I'm a blue chipper and have offers from virtually any school, my choices would probably be 'Bama, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Texas, Southern Cal, and Oklahoma. Why? For the reasons I cited above. When you boil it all down, pretty much every major university has nice facilities and I don't think the difference between UT's facilities and any facilities of the above mentioned schools are great enough to make me choose UT just because they built a new training center. And you can be rest assured that before the final coat of paint is dry on UT's facility, other universities will be breaking ground on something comperable or better.

Like I said before, I'm damn proud of UT's facilities and they are getting even better. But I'm not about to believe that 5*'s are going to be lining up based solely on the fact that we are building a new training center.

Talent and ability get an athlete to the NFL. Championships have very little to do with it. Think about it.

I never said championships get you to the league. I said prospects want to go to schools that have a history of getting guys to the league. Oh and if talent and ability alone gets you to the league...where's Montori Hughes right now?

Good thing UT is not historically top 10 in nation with players in NFL. ohhhhh wait they are

UT has produced more NFL players than Bama, Florida, LSU, and Texas.

We have 38 active, Bama has 27, LSU has 44, UF has 38

Unfortunatley, Montario did not have the ability. May have had the talent but not the ability to focus and put his talent to productive use.
You stated that if you were a blue chipper you would choose other schools -
it would STILL come down to which school gives me the best chance to win a national title and get to the NFL
Basically, all of these kids want to win a NC and go on to play on Sundays. Very, very few win NC's, and fewer yet get to play on Sundays. A majority of these kids will play ball for 3- 4 years. A few elite will play on Sundays. FWIW, UT does a very good job of putting kids in Sunday pads.
