Unshared SEC championships before 1963 were few and far between for most teams...The SEC was for the most part during that era in a form of divisional play..Tennessee rarely played LSU ,Mississippi State Tulane, or Florida ,but Alabama did.They had IMO by far the toughest row to hoe in the SEC, as the ALWAYS played Bama,Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and Auburn..no one else can say that.

Eh...what?

Tennessee played in all of those games, winning the first two.

Mississippi St played in one and lost, Auburn played in two and split, LSU played in two (or three, see below,) and won both.

EDIT: Due to the three way tie in '03, UGa was selected using a ouigi board, and LSU beat them.

i honestly think any college football team should be happy with a 10-win season and that should be an ok norm; i've always felt that way

I just don't know how we crank it back up a notch or two. The SEC schools in the talent rich states (FL, LSU,GA, Auburn, Bama) are now paying whatever it takes to get the best coaches/recruiters. Even if we pay for that as well we still have the local Tennessee talent (or lack thereof) to overcome. Until the Tennessee high school programs start cranking out the 5* talent, we may be looking sideways at the USCe, Arky, UK type programs rather than down at them.

If that is the case, then you could say the same about some of Bama's conference titles.

I agree on 2 sec championships every 10 years. That means probably playing in 3-4 in a ten year span. Generally, if you win the sec championship game, you should be in the national picture. Lets face it. Way too many things have to go right for any team to be in the national championship game, so I don't worry too much about it. Sec champs should be our goal every year. If it works out that we get to play for the national champ because we won the sec, then all the better.
