I pulled the info below straight from the 24/7 sports site. It looks they are not only ranking players themselves, but they are taking the rankings from all of the other major recruiting services and listing a composite score for each player. I always thought someone should do this. It's pretty cool.

"We're proud to unveil this morning a very cool upgrade to our recruiting rankings system upgrade that we believe will be a game-changer in this industry.

The 247Composite Ranking takes ratings on prospects through the industry and combines them into one formula. Observe with Tramel Terry ...

Tramel Terry

The 247Composite Rating is the industry's most comprehensive and unbiased prospect ranking and is also used to generate 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings. We'll continue to offer the same standard 247Sports player rankings as well.

Here are the gritty details ...

The 247Composite Rating is a proprietary algorithm that compiles prospect "rankings" and "ratings" listed in the public domain by the major media recruiting services. It converts average industry ranks and ratings into a linear composite index capping at 1.0000, which indicates a concensus No. 1 prospect across all services.

All major media services share an equal percentage in the 247Composite Rating.

The composite index equally weights this percentage among the services that participate in a ranking for that specific prospect.

A composite strength meter, indicated by red bars, illustrates the total number of industry services that have ranked the prospect. A full strength meter indicates the prospect has been ranked by all industry services participating in the composite.

All industry services have a different philosophy on number of "stars" distributed with each class. The 247Composite Rating assigns stars based on an approximate average distribution of stars from the industry."

Here is a little more info..

247Rating Explanation
247Sports has one of the industry’s largest and most recognized national recruiting staffs. Led by industry veterans J.C. Shurburtt, Gerry Hamilton and Jerry Meyer (basketball), 247Sports employs a staff of more than 50 reporters, analysts and evaluators that rank the nation’s elite high school football and basketball recruits from multiple class years.

247Sports Rating Explanation
Each recruit we evaluate is assigned a numerical rating as well as a star rating. Ratings are determined by our recruiting analysts after countless hours of personal observations, film evaluation, and input from our network of scouts.

Players are first grouped qualitatively with a star rating, then given a numerical rating based on their future potential, and finally ranked according to these numerical ratings.

110 - 101 = Franchise Player. One of the best players to come along in years, if not decades. Odds of having a player in this category every year is slim. This prospect has "can’t miss" talent.

100 - 98 = Five-star prospect. One of the top 30 players in the nation. This player has excellent pro-potential and should emerge as one of the best in the country before the end of his career.

97 - 90 = Four-star prospect. One of the top 300 players in the nation. This prospect will be an impact-player for his college team. He is an All-American candidate who displays pro-potential.

89 - 80 = Three-star prospect. One of the top 10% players in the nation. This player will develop into a reliable starter for his college team and is among the best players in his region of the country.

79 - below = Two-star prospect. This player makes up the bulk of Division I rosters. He may have little pro-potential, but is likely to become a role player for his respective school.

Seems pretty cool. Also seems as though 247 is attempting to distance themselves from the other services. I dont subscribe anywhere, but if i were to i would find it hard to pick rivals over 247.

Program got stuck in an endless loop as the sites copied each others' content

On 247 what is the symbol that looks like a battery sign for? It is right beside the composite number and players have between 1 and 4 sections colored in.

I was wondering the same thing. Here is what I found:

That's what I get for just skimming the original post. Thanks

I gotta tell ya fellas...this could be a game changer in the realm of recruiting coverage...

This pretty much eliminates any chance for bias in 247's rankings...this algorithm basically allows them to incorporate the evaluation of all analysts in the recruiting game into one ranking for each player...and they don't even have to pay royalties for it (but I wouldn't be surprised if the other sites threaten action since 247 is using their evaluations to ultimately make money)...

If Hubbs and Co. are smart they will make their way over to 247...they are showing that they have not only the means but the desire to do it right
