Woud you rather him say that he is lazy but gets by on his athleticism?

This guy is a good pickup. He is a 4* at Scout.com. He is a guy that Tennessee offered alway the back in June, so they are obviously pretty high on the guy. He had an offer from the in-state Sooners and they usually know a little about good defensive football players.

Hard-worker is a good thing. His coach echoes his statements about his work ethic. He says he is a tremendous wroker and is also a terrific student. 3.4 GPA and scored a 21 on his ACT. Coach says he has a big body, long arms, and tons of talent. Good player, good student, good kid.

And 4.8 isn't bad speed for a guy that big either. He could legitimately play anywhere on the d-line. Wonder if his hands are any good?

21 on the ACT isn't very impressive, but I'd say he'll be a good addition to the Vol fold... I mean, since when did we care how well players do in the classroom? As long as they graduate, and play well, Im happy.

Looks like another solid commit!
We should be very deep at DE come Sept, with most of the TE commits going to get looks at DE as well. But hey, Witten was a LB/TE signed as a DE only to play TE when the depth chart became thin at the position.

21 on the SAT is not very good? Is this a Duke or Vanderbilt thread. Did I miss something when I went to college :shakehead: ?

Sounds like a keeper if you ask me. Hard worker, good grades, lets get a hundred of players like this guy.

And one more thing while I'm at it. BRUCE, BRUCE, BRUCE, BRUCE OF PEARL. You gotta love this man. :gun: :twocents:

That's 21 out of a possible 36. :D Not to brag, but as dumb as I am I scored a 32 on it at the end of my Junior year of HS. :naughty:

I disagree that 21 is a low score. It is the ACT for crying outloud. I made a 21 myself as a junior and had a 3.3 GPA in high school. I went to UT and finished with a 3.75 GPA.

This guy is an A-B student based on his GPA and has to study after practice. I know because I had to study 3 hours a night to get my grades after practice in 2 sports. Plus, some people just don't perform well on standardized tests. My brother on the other hand made a 28 out 32 and he barely tried.

The point is, he's an average student, not a genius. Nothing wrong /w that, just calling it like I see it.

Sounds like a good kid, let's just hope he appreciates the chance to play here enough, so he doesn't screw it up.

For a kid that spends as much time in the weight room and on the practice field as a big-time high school football player a 21 is a good score. I don't think we said he was Einstien. We are just speaking in terms of a time right now where the BIGGEST issue involving college recruiting is "Ok, now if we can get him to qualify he'll be an excellent addition."
