New commit - OL Riley Locklear

Georgia has beaten us "barely" in the last 3 times they won against us. Does the Pig Howard fumble bring back any memories? Tyler Bray fumbling on the game winning drive? Justin Worley getting hurt when we were about to pull away from UGA in the 3rd quarter? The wins UGA has had against us have been off of luck not because they were the better team. Alabama is different story they just have straight up kicked our ass the last 9 years. (except 2009 yall muthaf***** got lucky as hell)

Ever notice how this thing we call "luck" keeps following around the most talented team?

That was at Columbia vs South Carolina with Clowney.

And last year.

Since the subject is Georgia, are you saying that Georgia is the "most talented team"? Does that place Bama second or third?

Nasty ... that is the first word that comes to mind when describing Locklear. He fires off the ball well and plays with a low pad level, but he finishes blocks well and is extremely physical. He is able to stay under the defensive player, and once he engages and drives his legs, the play is over for the defender. Locklear has quick feet and gets to the second level well. He plays fast and locates defenders in space well when pulling, but he needs to maintain his body control at times. Locklear is also good is pass protection and his initial punch is very good, but he still needs to refine his pass protection technique and not reach. His attitude is that of a road grater. -- Brian Dohn

That analysis and his solid offer list combined with the proven eyes for finding good to great high school talent are all we really need to know.

This young man is still in high school, still growing and developing and could turn into a all American O lineman before his time as a Vol is finished.

Exactly zero people on here know how well he'll do as we train and build him up.

He certainly looks really good for a young kid and Florida State and Michigan State and others wouldn't be going after a loser either.

This kid deserves a big BOOOOM and a WELCOME from all of us true Vols fans!

WELCOME to Big Orange country young man!

I look forward to watching you grow and become a great footVol player for us over the years.

Building a Champion #Br9ickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

That may be true but it means very little anymore.

You've been talking trash FOR Georgia...thought you'd veered off :). Meet any hot guys on the Dawgs board today?

We've been talking about talent advantages and how that translates to wins.

And you're the one dressed like a poodle. Isn't that precious?

Oh? You're confused. It's an avi. Just like we know that you have no athletic talent, yet have football players in yours. :yu: And we weren't "talking" to you in particular. We were discussing OUR team's recruiting and your tired troll butt sauntered in and started taunting. It never works...we stay fans of our team and your board sucks. :hi:

It can't be stressed enough what winning will mean for these next two classes. Those 14 and 15 classes were loaded because Butch could sell early playing time at a SEC Power, rebuilding for a Championship run. The rebuild is now complete and in order for Butch to convince the same caliber players to come and possibly play backup for a year or two he has got to show them that he knows how to get us to the big show in the SEC.

This will be the most important season of Butch Jones career IMHO. We got the horses and they are battle tested. No more excuses. It's time to start winning hardware

Go Vols.

Yippee another 3* - this class is a big yawn so far

I don't care if their 5*, 4*, 3*etc... as long as they can help UT in the future.
I've seen to many 5* stand on the sidelines and pick their nose and scratch their azz, and not do a damn thing! :hi:

It's does get a little itchy when it is hot

An unfortunate by-product of today's vast sports interface, is the hyped up over dramatization of the LT spot. Yes, for most QBs it's the blind side but there is another tackle spot that needs as much production. When Cade Mays committed the debate popped up when he was projected as a dominant mashing RT. Some depicted that as a slap...that he could play LT. Sure they CAN. Sometimes it's a matter of if someone else can play LT adequately but CAN not play RT as well as a gifted teammate. That legendary OL that earned 3 SB rings and paved the path to Emmitt Smith becoming the all-time leading rusher, had the less physically gifted Mark Tuinei manning LT while Erik Williams (pre-car wreck) dominated and mauled and physically punished on the right. Guarantee he would've been great on Aikman's blind side but Tuinei wouldn't have been anywhere near the roadgrader opposite side. I suspect that's the same scenario on Riley's team.
I suspect Hoptown Vol's "wall of words" quip at any moment. By the way, Butchna, you're absolutely right. The qbs blindside, which is protected by the LT (obviously if the qb's right handed), requires boxing out and preventing reaching the non-throwing arm side. The passing arm side (RT's) requires steering out the edge rusher, et al, and also keeping nearby DL hands and arms from interfering with the trajectory; some same/some different tools required for each position. You're also right by noting the more complicated run block assignments that are handled by the RT. This big fella's got the size, the aggressiveness and the natural tools to rise up to all SEC caliber, at least IMHO.

Regardless of what most of you want to believe, you cant have a down year in recruiting and compete with Alabama, Florida, and Georgia every year

Not gonna happen no matter how "All vol" or "VFL" you make them. Its the reason Alabama is a force.

Butch needs to show out this year or the Salesman of the Year will be peddling his bricks somewhere else in 2 years

Now rain down your hate on me!!

If it helps, it's still July.

But on the other hand, never too early to start talking about firing.
Need to knock off the rust after all.

And welcome back.
