New Commit - Justin Coleman

Notice how he said Kids. Plural ....not singular. Over all, the athletes he has brought in (in his 2 week prepared recruiting class) have brought with them talent and class. Comparing one arrest to the whole class is wrong.

Anyone naive enough to think Dooley will never sign players who will eventually get in trouble with the law is beyond help. There isn't, never has been, and never will be a coach who always accurately judges the character of the players he recruits.

Did any actually ever say that none of dooleys recruits would ever get in trouble. I think people are just a little more optimistic that there will be fewer off the field incidents.

exactly... but the problem is he doesn't read what anyone says before he posts...

Ok, all of you idiots who worry about the number of stats please tell me how many of the starters on Bama's nc team last year were >3*.

How many were less? Two years ago our roster was loaded with 4* and 5* and we finished 5-7.

I actually like Bob Stoops from years ago talking about evaluations. he had a program and it wasn't related to *s. it was players fitting a mold.

Why are you yipping at me?

All of you clowns brushing aside the fact that we are only getting 3 stars are fools. You don't win the SEC with a class full of 3 stars. You think Bama is good because Sabam is a brilliant play caller. NO! It is because he brings in the top talent. Same goes for Urban. Name me a team to win the SEC in the past 10 years that didn't get a ton of 4 and 5 star recruits. Look who win the NCs. Texas, USC, Florida, OSU, OU, Bama. NOT TEAMS FULL OF CRAP 3 STARS!

You guys are delusional. Kiffin recruited and that is what works in all college sports. Everyone of these 3 stars that commits the more I think Dooley was a dumb hire. His best players were Tennessee rejects.

Not feeling good about the future of UT football.

What should we do Scottyhop? Should we pay players to come here. Tired of idiots talking like CDD is intentionally turning away All-Americans to sign high character 3 stars. We are getting what we can. Unless you want to be like the Alabama sponsors, shut the hell up. Doom and gloom. Tennessee has been down this road before. You take the guys that you can (realistically) get. You coach them up. You win 6-8 games. You get better players. You win 7-9 games. You get better players. You win championships. It doesn't happen right away. You complain about stuff that the current staff has no control over. Do you think that CDD doesn't want big 5* uglies? He is not sabotaging himself because he secretly wants to go back to LA Tech. The guy is doing his best. Coaching makes a difference. Maybe he is a guru. Maybe he is not. Point is, the guy is surely trying to secure the best talent possible. There have been times when FLA and Alabama wished they were consistently in bowls, like the KY teams that you are making fun of. Get over it, and quit being a whiny girl.

Wow, arent you a smart feller. You better contact Boise St. and tell them they are doing a horrible job at recruiting. Its not like they are fighting for a Nat. Champ. every year pretty much going undefeated every year with 1* and 2* players. Granted they don't play really good teams, they prove it by destroying those teams and winning 10+ games a year... You act like if we don't have all the 5*s on the board we are gonna suck... Look at Hardesty, he was a 3* i think. Where is he now? NFL... 3* players are the sleepers i like to call them, because you never know what is gonna happen with them. Sh. another example is Mark Ingram, i think Rivals or Scout had him at a 3*. Did i hear he won a heisman? So you are completely oblivious to recruiting and what you are even talking about. Look at Urbeys recruiting board. Rivals has a bunch of those players as 3*s and ESPN has em all as 4*s. So don't just go off of stars. Even better example. My buddy just left for college to play ball at a D1-AA school. A bunch of scouts told him if he woulda started the recruiting process a year earlier he would have been probably the top WR in the nation. So don't always go on stars. Idiot

Well I believe your negativity is baseless right now so we will agree to disagree.

Both are pretty well baseless until we see a UT team coached by Dooley play a game or two. All we know about Dooley as a head coach is that he is a very smart man who likes challenges and he had a not so great record at a smaller school where he may or may not have taken on too much responsibility. Beyond that, we'll see...

Were these feats accomplished before or after you both smoked a special substance?

Nope... he was straight out RIPPED. He looked like Eric Berry with more chest. Imagine my surprise when I saw that happen... dude was maybe 165 dripping wet.

Guys.... I could be way, way off on this but I really don't think the staff is just settling for "what they can get".

Most of us have agreed that in any given year there will be guys who don't get the recruiting svc love that will become great players. IMHumbleO, DD and staff are trying to work a formula of character+grades+talent+work ethic to FIND THOSE GUYS. I do not think they've taken a '11 commit without believing they can become a championship caliber player.

Teams in states with great instate talent are going to have the advantage. UT nor any other school is going to come in and take alot of UF's top targets from them- same with Texas, USC, tOSU, LSU, etc. But virtually everyone is trying to do just that. On the whole, everyone is failing.

DD seems to be taking a different tack. They are trying to get ahead of the curve on alot of guys... and succeeding many times. They're trying to find under the radar guys... we'll see how successful they are over the next couple of years.

As someone mentioned earlier, maybe if you're in Dec/Jan and have not filled a need then you start taking fall backs. But you don't do it now. There's too much that can happen between now and then.

I think this year's class is about building a foundation. We're down right now and it's hard to get the higher rated kids to consider UT over Florida, Bama, Texas, Oklahoma and so on.

I think Dooley and staff want to get guys that give them the highest odds of staying with the team and rid them of the attrition and depth issues. In a year or two, once the depth is improved, I think they will start to focus on the higher rated player.

They have to have something to sell these players first and having Bray or Worley comfortable under center with plenty of depth is what they need to sell the higher rated player to come here.

Guys also want to see Dooley and staff's coaching abilities first before buying in to Tennessee.

Per Rivals:
Alan Posey- Clemson, GT, LSU
Brian Randolph- UGA, GT, SCAR
Tom Smith- PITT, Wisc two schools that are known for finding good backs. I'm sure other offers would have came in, but he shut down recruiting
Justin Worley- ND, LSU, FSU, UF but probably not commitable
Mack Crowder- UF, VT

It's not like our commits are unwanted. And yeah we did beat out a few top tier programs for most of them, and that will continue to happen with more frequency as the year goes on.

I admit that Worley is a great looking QB recruit , and O linemen beauty is in the eye of the beholder there....but many of the others are the kind of guys you tack on at the end of signing day to round it out. A back that Pitt wants , and really nobody else ? mack Crowder does not have a standing offer from UF...I think UF has been in contact ...but not much else.

The whole point is that we are going to go from a top 5 recruiting program to maybe a top 25 program with the guys we are bringing in.

The folks that come out and talk about how good our character will be and bash the * system ( which I am not a huge fan of ) need to consider two things :

Vandy and Airforce have excellent character and great graduation rates . Glad we have Vandy on our schedule....wish we could add Airforce in exchange for UF ( who has some terrible character issues ) That mean ol' Alabama with all of their cheating and bad character issues.

That star system that everybody loves to dog ...has a direct link to results. Florida, Alabama , Texas , Oklahoma , USC ...not only are they at the top of the mythical charts ...but they are playing for titles....aka championships. There are anomolies : VT , those old Nebraska teams ...but anomolies are just what they are. You can almost count on Auburn to rise to the top after they spend another year at the top of the recruiting world. Whatever rah rah you guys want to believe...if we are not in that top 5-10 teams recruiting , you had better hope we are at 1-2% team that gets results despite recruiting .
