Meh, a 3 star. Probably can buy one better from the portal next cycle. Recruiting has went to $hit! If he shows out, its gonna be to be highest bidder! We all know we ain't gonna be it!
I'd say theres a very high likelihood.

Remember the 105 number. We no longer take walk ons. Kid would have been a PWO last year.

Yall act like coaches peruse 247 waiting on whomever to assign a star ranking before they offer a guy. No one looks at stars but fans.

The coaches offered him immediately after he showed out in camp last year. Our coaches clearly believe in the guy...AP said he threw it all over the yard in camp. James Pearce was a 3* kid that our coaches really liked. All that matters is what our staff thinks...star rating means absolutely nothing the day you step foot on campus. This kid probably redshirts next year in 27 to get 2 years between him and Faizon. He has a good a chance as anyone to start here. Joey is a freaking zero star recruit and if he is eligible he will start over 2 young QBs that were both 5* guys in HS at times. I hate when people who have never even laid eyes on a recruit try to write them off. So stupid.
What?

James Pearce ratings per site in 2022:
247Sports: 4* EDGE, #18 Overall EDGE
Rivals: 4* WDE, #10 Overall WDE
ESPN: 3* DE, #40 Overall DE
On3: 5* EDGE, #1 Overall EDGE

Before the NIL era, I would have said it was a bad idea but this makes sense. Not recruiting a top 10 QB and picking up someone serviceable. Save the NIL money and spread it around getting better players across the whole field. If he doesn't pan out, pull a portal guy.
Exactly. You’re gonna be probably getting a portal guy at qb. Get a somewhat cheap young guy to develop and see what you get.

This guy has like 0% he will ever make it here
... check-out Bull's Bluechip Breakdown YouTube channel and listen to Bull. The man absolutely knows ball, and I believe has seen the kid play, or knows someone who has. Nevertheless, if Bull says this kid is an absolute gridiron stud, then he's a baller on some level, for certain 💯.
Bluechip Breakdown, must watch and subscribe y'all. And, the man is from GA and bleeds O&W!!! GBO!

OR you get a guy at the top end of your board based on a pre injury evaluation. Dancing with the star blessed can yield more risk than reward. Not dancing but pulling the early trigger is a great sign from my vantage point.

Will be interesting to follow the trends of his service renkings at the level of competition he plays. Will this be the second year with this school and system?

Idk. There are plenty of busts without adding in the injury element imo. Idea is to minimize nil spend on players sitting on the bench

This stood out to me.

"He has a very strong arm and is build like a linebacker. He is very strong and powerful at 6-2, 225 pounds."
His scouting report says very high football IQ can execute multiple NFL schemes and the kid only played half of the year with an injured wrist. He has some really good offers on the table too. This could be a diamond in the rough situation.

The kid only played half the year last year too with a hurt wrist. I just posted a reply to freak that stated his scouting report says very high football IQ and can execute multiple NFL schemes.

So he is a good size but still got hurt even in hs. IMO size has nothing to do with injuries. Speaking of mac

Who really knows what is being paid?
The bottom line is, to build future teams, we have to invest in people and relationships. Was true in the past, still true now. 🤷
Not true now.. it's all about money, relationships, respect and commitment mean nothing to these guys especially the top guys, if more money shows up they're gone🤣

Isn't that how life is? If another company offered to double your salary for the same work, would you stay at your current job?

This early deal makes me confident he has the tools. Not like a low star fallback option in February.

Well, sure, overt money these days is a huge game changer.

However, at the end of the day, folks will go where they feel most comfortable, where they kinda like the people they will be around, where they think they will be built up and developed for some future beyond. All that takes some investment of time and patient attention. It did before, it still does now. 🤷

Huh? You still have to recruit top ranked player, even at QB. You stop recruiting top guys, you will end up overpaying for a player.
No. You'll end up paying what they are worth. We paid Nico for an entire year to sit on the bench, playing half assed for a season, and then bolting. He hasn't panned out at UCLA either. So we dropped premium money for garbage play. Did we overpay Joey?
