I agree, nice pick up. Currently rated a high 3 star, close to a 4 star. Keep it up CDD! That makes us 18 recruits and counting. I think we get the allotted number of recruits this year.

Lemming Notes: Not the biggest LB around but certainly one of the more athletic ones. On Film–#43 impresses you with his all around game. He played more DE than OLB but is better suited to play the OLB position in college. He is not intimidated by bigger blockers, shows strong hands, sheds blocks quickly, and can find the ball. Strong at the point of attack, he can stay low and his elusiveness is the key to his game. His film shows a player who appears to be in on just about every tackle. He needs to add weight and shows the frame to weigh close to 230 in college. Stats–Totaled 56 tackles, 14 sacks, and 10 tackles for losses at DE. Other Sports–Averages 6 points and 10 rebounds a game as an FW in basketball. Grades–His GPA is 3.2 and he scored an 18 on the ACT. Benches 325 and has a 36" VJ

He is a two star on Scout and we all know that Scout doesn't do near the homework on football that Rivals does. Rivals is the site for football.........Scout does a better job on basketball.

I thought he was a 2* DE because of his size.

I based that on rivals. Just out of curiousity, does anyone think that the new staff even messed with calling any of the highest rated recruits(ie Jeffcoat) to see if they would be interested in UT? I dont, but I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

this confirms your opinion:

Winning the DL MVP at the National Underclassman Combine was sophomore Martaze Jackson of Demopolis High School. Jackson, 6 feet 2 and 204 pounds, showed fantastic rush technique and speed during one-on-ones, and he also excelled during the combine events with a 10'1" broad, 32-inch vertical, 4.78 40, and 4.52 shuttle.

Seeing how Scout misspelled his name, I will go with rivals assessment.

JUST DOO IT! Way to go CDD and staff locking down another player in a very important depth position for us. At this rate, we'll have 25 commits in no time!

GO VOLS!!! V, B :baloon:

Am I the only one who is concerned that Tennessee is poaching players from a football program that wasn't in existence two years ago? And yes, I realize the Rivals rankings don't mean everything, but the do mean something. This athlete may turn out to be a stud, but if this is going to be representative of Tennessee's overall recruiting efforts, there is reason for concern.

Rivals doesn't even show him committed to anyone. Unless I'm missing something, why would it be considered poaching?

Well, Jackson certainly can't be any worse than "5 star" Chris Donald.

Montori Hughes was a 2 star and is by far the best DT on our team returning next year.

You forgot to say "the sky is falling!"
Sheesh ... watched any TV lately? You may have seen we lost our HC, DC and Recruiting Coordinator ... Maybe, just maybe, you can give DD a pass if we are playing catch-up. :rtfm:

There are many examples of players that exceeded their recruiting ranking, but I would rather have a class with a 3.75 average than one with a 3.25 average. My point is that Tennessee will not be competitive with the Floridas and Alabamas with a significant number of recruits of this caliber.
