New commit: AL LB Will Ignont

Leaving IMG and then going to what appears to be a public school seems odd. You mostly see this in basketball players, moving high schools during a senior year and frequently it is academic issues when it happens. Hope this youngster nothing but the best and that he has a super experience on The Hill.

To clarify some, according to BOL staff, his commitment was to an assistant coach, but never talked to coach Saban to finalize and was thought to be a silent commit for that period. There have been hints of off-field issues at his stop at IMG. He supposedly had a very average camp and he continued to fall down the board and was encouraged to look elsewhere.

With LBs Markail Benton, Vandarius Cowan, Dylan Moses, Gary Johnson, with Mack Wilson and Ben Davis the two, #1 ILB and #1 OLB in America trying to get on the field, he felt it wasn't going to happen for him.

That makes sense.

The fact that Bama was seriously recruiting Ignont says a lot.
You can't TAKE them all. Bama can be selective.

Davis and Wilson are tremendous athletes.

Dylan Moses is a stud.

We're recruiting well, not Bama level, but if we can get healthy we can play with you all. And if we can win the rematch in Atlanta
Then our recruiting will take off!

If we do that....oh my god. There'd be no doubt in my mind a national title is in our near future.

Hurtz isn't a very reliable passer yet.

Their defense can be hurt through the air.

On defense we would have to commit more hats and size at the line of scrimmage.

Dobbs needs to run sooner when the pass isn't there. Bamas linebackers can run him down. So can their STAR and SS who play in the box a lot.

Oh, Hurts passing it doesn't scare me at all. He just presents a very formidable read option. It's mainly about scoring on that defense and containing the run game (RBs and Hurts).

Tennessee landed him...so what's wrong with him?

Sadly, that was kind of my thought too. Seems like with almost every recruit we land, there's always some caveat that prevents them from being considered ideal. Either they're good but undersized. They're big but lack athleticism. They're physically there but lack football IQ or mental toughness. They're fast but not shifty. They're shifty but not fast. They're big but not strong. Their physical freaks but raw and undeveloped. Etc, etc.
