New commit: AL LB Will Ignont

X from Tony Basilio said this on 10/14/16
Labryan Ray and Will Ignont. I mention these two prospects together for a reason. Ray is a strong side defensive end and Ignont is a middle linebacker. Both are highly rated prospects from the state of Alabama. Alabama and Auburn are interested in both kids. Whether the in state schools just out recruit other schools or there is some hanky-panky going on, it is rare that a prospect either of these schools want make it out of the state.

With that said, Tennessee has made an impression on Ray, he has been on campus multiple times and he sees immediate opportunity to play here soon. Same with Ignont. As the season has gone on it is apparent Tennessee lacks SEC quality depth at middle linebacker. Ignont is a highly rated prospect who is a run stuffer first. I don’t hold much hope out either prospect end up at Tennessee though I do find it interesting both appear to have sincere interest in Tennessee

In closing, recruiting never stops and the one constant with recruiting is it changes every day. Expect plenty of changes to the names on the commitment list before the dust settles in February. Expect Tennessee to sign a full class and maybe even a couple beyond that.

Well then if Basilio said it, by God..

He's as "in the know" as I am. However, I agree with most of this. :)

Another Linebacker?? We have too many already!

.

Never can have too many. Crucial position. QB of the defense. As you've seen this year UT almost ran out of LBs due to injury. Thank GOD Jumper learned how to play in a hurry. He's done a nice job.

Have heard he has had some off the field issues and is a bit...Flighty. All just rumor. You know anything?

Rumors with little to no substance... with all that has been going on at UT this past year, I doubt Butch takes a chance on a questionable kid... just my opinion

Multiple reasons why he was available. We wish you well.

We appreciate it.
Plus that Mack Wilson dude is a monster.

We needs guys like Ignont.

He and Bituli will not be so easily pushed around.

He's not coming to Alabama and I'm not totally convinced he's going to tenn. He simply announced his latest commitment.

Silly to write anything about prospects after the fact. Plenty of Bama recruiting sites that spoke of this kid through the summer as he made his sojourn from IMG to buckhorn.

What do you mean as far as being silly?

How many times has he committed?

Ignont is a player. You all took Donta Hightower from us years ago. It's time for payback.

IIRC, do not believe Hightower was ours to begin with.

Don't feed the trolls.

You knew as soon as a Alabama kid with an Alabama offer decided to go elsewhere they would show up to tell us they didn't want him anyways.

When someone writes in blue font they're being sarcastic ;)

The kid was a silent commit to BAMA early in the summer. Something happened that caused Saban and the staff to tell him to look elsewhere. Personally, I have no idea but I have heard some rumors. I won't feed those rumors because I think it is unfair to the kid and he can't defend himself. The kid was a definite take since he had previously been a silent commit. So any BAMA fan coming on here to say different is just trolling.
Maybe, the rumors are just that and the kid looked at the rosters and decided his best shot to play early was to leave the state. Who knows?

Leaving IMG and then going to what appears to be a public school seems odd. You mostly see this in basketball players, moving high schools during a senior year and frequently it is academic issues when it happens. Hope this youngster nothing but the best and that he has a super experience on The Hill.

He started at Buckhorn, went to IMG, and then came back, all within the same 2-3 month period I believe.
