What is with all the hatred with Spurrier? Is it his success? Who cares about a coaches ego if he wins?

As much as Spurrier made fun of Fulmer over the years,do you honestly think they would do that to Fulmer and hire Spurrier.That would be a kick in the mouth.

If Spurrier is available, you grab him and hold on for dear life. Enough with this tip toeing and not bruising egos crap! Samething we did with Ainge. "Oh... his ego is fragile... we can't have him losing confidence..."

I'm sick of the kiddie gloves approach! Time to start getting some changes made at UT and stop feeling sorry for a guy that makes $2 million/year and hasn't won squat in 10 years!

I agree.I just don't see it happening,maybe it will cause that's what needs to be done to change this program.

i don't understand why so many people here think a current NFL coach would be a good candidate for the job...

cowher, gruden, fisher (despite the new deal he just inked), etc. .... i think none of them would be interested in it because i just don't thnk any of them would have any interest in dealing with teenagers and whatnot.. and school/ncaa regs... and active recruiting, etc..

on a side note --- to the guy waaaay back on about page 5 or 6 of this thread who asked me if i was serious about tennessee having "someone in shape on the sidelines for once" [reference to charlie strong]...

ummm yeah. i was serious.

But I'm not talking about "NFL coaches"...
I'm talking about NFL **HEAD** coaches?
(and spurrier coming back doesn't count)...

Who else is out there? (I don't know.. that's why I ask)
