New Coaching Staff

Stoops didn't have experience running a "major" program. Many don't for that matter. I would even argue that Urban Meyer and Steve Spurrier didn't run a "major" program before going to Florida.

IF they were to get another HC I would welcome Strong with open arms to the program.

As far as lowering my expectations, I just don't see why we would have to. It's the same team as the Current HC has. If you expect Fulmer to win at least 9 or 10 next year then there's no reason not to expect the same from a new HC. The Talent is still on the team.

For the record I haven't followed Charlie Strong that closely, but from what I do know of him there would be many positives, not the least of which would entail the ability to lead a defense, motivate, and recruit (an obvious necessity).

i think you're going to have to look at candidates like CS if you're going to make that kind of change.

he's a very good coordinator and has been everywhere he's been.

would he be my 1st choice, maybe not, but i woudln't necessarily have a problem with him, were he hired.

He will be heading to the Carolina Panthers next year...mark it down...if he doesn't...he would be a great hire!

If that was the route to take I would just go after Jeff Fisher! He continues to impress me.

He just signed a four year contract extension with the Titans. (Which makes me happy cuz I'm a Titans fan too.)

If Cowher goes back to the NFL and doesn't field a successful team - perennial playoff team followed by a SB - then his NFL legacy will be destroyed. Big risk. In the NFL he has only one way to go and that's down. But college, no wait the SEC, no wait Tennessee, he has only one way to go and that's up, up, up. Plus, what coach can say he won a SB and a BCS championship.

Money isn't a problem. Bringing in a retread is
yeah, Cowher is awful. he is the NFL version of CPF however. many conf. championship games, 2 conf. titles, 1 super bowl win. best winning % among active coaches, while he as there etc, etc, etc....

but he was consistent.

as much as i would like that to be true, i would expect him to be roaming the sidelines in the mistake by the lake next fall.

John fox isn't going anywhere unless the panthers have a losing season....and they'll fall just shy of that going 8-8 or 9-7.

That was exactly my point. Consistently 2nd best

Why go to an NFL'er to coach?? I would look at young and promising, i.e. Chris Peterson at Boise State, Greg Schiano at Rutgers.

Cowher is a nfl coach period.Tedford doesn't impress. We must have a big name if anyone. Why you ask so we can recruit nationally, retreads or within the family won't cut it.
