Its a win sure, but we didn't deserve that one. We reverted back to the bama game in the second half. Some really bad coaching going on in this game too. What on earth was phil thinking wasting a T.O. to ice the kicker when you have to come back if he makes it.

one could argue that given the play of our team this year, its quite an amazing feat of the coaches to have us in position to win the sec east at this point in the season.

That person would be living in a vacuum though because if they had watched any games this year they would realize it had nothing to do with our coaches. 4 turnovers and a 21 point lead, and we still needed a good kicker to blow an easy kick.

The T.O. call to ice the kicker was horrendous. Phil must be utterly clueless.

Everyone else in the sec east has us in position to win. We sliped, stumbled and fell into first place, again.

Are you serious? The fact that we are still in it isn't due to our coaches, but by the freak show known now as the SEC east. Our coaches suck and deserve no credit except for trying to completely run this season off into the ditch...

You are correct. One can make an argument and be completely wrong. There is a lot of talent on this team. They came out in this ball game and lit the scoreboard up for 21 points. At halftime the coaches got a hold of them for the halftime adjustements and then look what happened. This is the same ole' tale year after year. Fulmer is a very good recruiter; however, once the shoes and shoulder pads are laced up, these players are not developed. They are basically worse players once they graduate, IMHO. The players in the game that come in and make a spark are the true freshmen. Why is that?

Puh-lease! Please address your keyboard with a straight face and tell us you wouldn't be griping if he had NOT called the time out.

He's not good at clock management. He should have saved that timeout. It would have been nice to have when Ainge got sacked.

Another instance was the LSU game last year. Fulmer didn't use his timeouts to conserve clock on LSU's final drive. Thus, Crompton only had like 20 seconds to try for a winning score.

I certainly can say I wouldn't have complained. We had a minute to drive and he blows the time out.

There was a minute left in the game. We needed all the timeouts we could get.

sorry, but i had to have a little fun with that comment...if its time to get a new staff i'm certainly not opposed...however, lets face it, this team is not that good...quarterback can not step up and make a play..he's very serviceable, but not a gamechanger...we don't have one receiver which causes a defense to scheme differently...our best tailback can't hold on to the ball....yes, we have young players making plays occasionally...but the inexperience is a tremendous weakness...bash fulmer and staff for the last several years, but tonite, i'm amazed this team pulled out a victory against a very tough usc team...

Then how do you explain the coaching staff's current record against SEC coaches like Spurrier, Richt, Tuberville, Miles, and Urban Meyer???? This team isn't great, but they would be miles ahead if any of those (except Miles) listed above coached them.

We are talking about a quarterback that was probably better in his freshman year ... correct? The defense has never been able to tackle. We always throw an interception or fumble the ball at the wrong moments. Don't you think that perhaps these are fundamentals that are not being developed or practiced? In Ainge's case, I believe he is highly talented as evidenced in his freshman year. He has become worse with every year. IMO, Cut probably has him thinking too much back there instead of going with instinct. I believe that the best quarterbacks are successful with going with their gut instincts. We all know that almost every quarterback out there is not as cerebral as Peyton Manning.

I couldn't disagree more. Ainge is not worse that 2005, and his "instincts" look like the endzone underhanded pass to the LSU defense. Ainge gets picked when he stops thinking.

not trying to make apologies for the current staff...tonite, we had a chance to regain control of our own fate in the east against a tough opponent....we did not dominate the first half but were fortunate to come away with turnovers and a couple of key plays...we all knew spurrier would move the ball against us and they play good defense...i just don't see the reason to bash the staff over tonites game....bottom line is the game was won.....any staff changes will be addressed at season end....lets enjoy the rollercoaster while we're on it...we might stumble to atlanta and lsu owes us one.

I disagree on your Ainge assessment. Remember back to 2005 our offense was the problem, not the defense. This year, our defense has killed us. We've averaged about 35 points per game this year. Ainge looked pitiful in 2005, nearly wretched.

I think our offensive problem comes down to our gameplan which is developed by the coaches. We seem to play into the other teams defensive strengths. Ainge has had some decent numbers, but our coaching staff isn't making the right play calling.

Ainge is a 100x better player than he was his freshman year. He was one of the most overrated Vols in history after that 2004 campaign. His 2005 collapse did not surprise me. You absolutely cannot argue that he hasn't improved in 2006 and 2007 compared to 2004 and 2005.
