C'mon, this isn't 1897-2000 where a coach was given 5 years to turn a program around. This is the age of computer football, fantasy football, & 'we have an APP for that' now.

The sky would be the limit here for him. Last but not least....he runs a pro style offense and his teams play hard nosed defense. I'm sick of this spread bull shiz. UT needs to be pro style, line up and run the damn football, play action.

Again, he would be in my top 3. And I think he would listen which is a VERY IMPORTANT aspect of our next coaching search. If we shoot we need to hit our target.

With all this being said, Gruden is the first call you make.

Peterson's son was getting treatment years ago. I think I read(last time the fire Dooley stuff started) that his son had beat the disease and was not in treatment any longer. I do not think it would come into play. Most things I have read say the reason he does not leave Boise is because of the cost of living/his salary. I would think 4 million in Knoxville would be equal to or better than the 1.625 he makes in Boise. (Rumors were UCLA offered him 2.8 and he said no).

Cool. Glad to hear that about his son. I agree, 3-4 million talks. All I know is we need a proven coach IMO. I don't want a coordinator, JMO. If that's the case with Peterson then...

1)Gruden- he's one guy we could be turned down by and it not impact following offers IMO.
2-A) Chris Peterson..runs pro style and just happens to win occasionally.
2-B) Mark Dantonio..theory stated in previous post. To add to that he was an assistant to Saban at MSU. Being a Saban assistant seems to be a pre-requisit now days, LOL. He was also a D-coordinator for Tressel at Youngstown State. Not sure if folks remember, they were dominant. He was also DC for Tressel at Ohio St. They won a NC with him coaching defense there. One Big Ten title and one division title, which IMO he got screwed out of. It was given to Wisconsin, yet the Badgers didn't play as tough of a conference schedule. Dudes the real deal.

I dont really like the "next coach" conversations. I truly hope that the current staff has an epitome and turns the corner, because I like them. With that said, I would love having Gruden.

But Hart has to know if he plays his cards right (wink, wink) he will get the Bammer AD position one day. Like I said, I hope he has more integrity than this. But I am wary because he is, after all, a Bammer.

Lol. James Franklin loses to USCe and freaking Northwestern and then beats the piss out of poor Presbyterian and he is a top 5 coach. I hate Clay Travis.

Some of you may find it funny or not like it but James Franklin has taken a Vanderbilt team that has not played weel for yeaers and has them competitve. The one thing that you do not see out of his teams is quitting.

Why do people get so butthurt over what Clay Travis thinks? How does if effect you? I find the Franklin suggestion comical, but who cares? Travis is a football fan that doesn't really know much more than any of us. He's just entertaining, like Finebaum.

in re petrino. he may be radioactive for the moment, but he's a helluva coach. it boggles the mind to think where the vols would be right now had he replaced fulmer. he's too young to take up the rocking chair, too curt to do t.v., too much talent to throw it away. i suspect he may turn up at kentucky (hey, anybody who'd hire calipari...). if he does, the vols may learn an old adage the hard way, the one about its better to have him inside the tent peeing out than outside...
