New Changes Announced for Gameday (Band, Gates, Security)

Getting in was easy for the Arkansas game. But outside the stadium just didn’t seem to have the normal crowd and electricity.

I’m glad that moved the band route back to going over the bridge instead of the same route as the Vol Walk. But instead of coming down and serenading the hill like they used to they just continue into the back side of the stadium. Does anyone know why this change was made? Is it a temporary thing? They totally screwed up a longstanding tradition for no benefit, it seems.

We sit in the middle of the row and I didn’t want to try to get out during the game. People trying to walk down our row couldn’t even get around the chair backs, they had to go up a row to get around. My 6’7 son had to bend his legs up like a pretzel to try to sit down lol

Pretty easy walking up over the Hill past Ayers and down the stairs to Gate 23.

Getting out would’ve been easier if we’d have waited in the seats for about 20-30 minutes.

Waiting to get out of the White Street garage was the most inconvenient part, but not unexpected.

I seem to recall the “new” route for the Pride was actually pretty much the old route when I was in school in the late 90s.

Salute to the Hill was at Fulmer/Stadium and Andy Holt near the Money Wall. The old foot bridge from the UC was right over the band for the show.

How was everyone’s experience getting into Neyland for the Arkansas game? My seats are in DD so we’ve finally figured out the best way to get to our seats. We enter around back at Gate 23 and then walk halfway up, get off in the middle and then walk towards the south endzone and then take another ramp that empties out at the top at the entrance to section DD/EE. We can walk straight to our seats. Before we would take the ramp all the way to the top that ends around ZZ and it was impossible to get around the elevators in the tight walkway behind CC.

We had a terrible time in our seats in the first half. The older couple in front of us brought huge chairbacks that leaned back & took up half of our leg room. My son and I are both over 6’7 and the other big guy behind them couldn’t hardly sit down. They ignored our pleas to move them up. I finally sent a message to event staff at (865) 974-9898 and they responded that staff had been notified. We changed seats at halftime when seats opened up next to family members. Not sure if ushers ever came to do anything.

An absolute breeze. Entered Gate 10 , walked up Mount McKinley, lost ten extra pounds, and found section HH easily. The view of the river and boats from the top of the ramp is beautiful. A ton of staff helping cell phone ticket challenged people like myself at the gates. “ Welcome to Rocky Top” was a nice added touch. My first game ever and I had no issues at all.

They don’t come down to salute the hill anymore. So it’s very much not the same. They just go over the bridge, then keep going and disappear into the stadium. It sucks.
