I actually love this hire from an academic stand point. She also seemed to work well with athletics departments in the past as well.

seems like you would hire a person from TN..

I don't get the nativist inbred attitude some on here have regarding the hiring of administrators and coaches. Just get a well qualified person and don't worry about whether she went to UT. She looks like a good choice, on the surface, for Tennessee.

So another person on campus from my undergrad school. It's a good thing that Cincinnati is pretty much a southern town.

Bringing in someone that's new to the system, fresh ideas, and a proven track record can be a real shot in the arm. Looking at the pictures, she seems positively connected to sports. The next big announcement will be the AD position. I bet the agenda folks are already at work trying to influence the process and their candidates. Will be an interesting couple of months. Hoping for Blackburn.

Disappointing with all of the people through the years who have graduated from UT and their various successes you can't find one to fill this position. It's like being Coca Cola and hiring a new CEO from Red Bull, what the %$#@ ???

Apparently in academia it's considered incestuous to teach, administrate, or work on a higher level degree (in academia) at an alma mater. Seems like a pretty stupid opinion to me; but what do I know, I'm uncouth enough to have BS and MS Engineering degrees from UT - and proud of it - wouldn't want to go anywhere else for that matter.

Ever wonder what it would be like to have an employee making $3.5 M more than you?

If that ee was responsible for the majority of $120 mil revenue, graduated his players and kept trouble at a minimum, I'd be fine with it.

You hire the best regardless of where they graduate from
Then it begs the query are we not producing the best? If not why not? Why hire anyone not Ivy league? That's a nice bumper sticker slogan, but fails if you have no confidence in your own product.

Face it per some here, you're not part of the best! You have to go to Michigan and Rutgers etc etc to make that cut!! <Smdh in disgust at people putting down their own school>

Maybe our new slogan should be "Come to Tennessee, you'll never be good enough to work here!!"

No problem with the hire...outside the fact that she, like Butch, graduated from a school in Michigan and comes to UT after working at UofCincinnati.

I'll bet she can spew some epic clichés too.

If she mention "resiliency" or "champions at life" in her intro then we are all screwed...:p

Thank you. I guess with that logic I should have never gone to UT since I was from out of state. People come to UT because they love it and want to grow it to be a better place. Hire the best regardless of where they got their undergrad degree from.
With that being said it would be nice to hire Blackburn or Charles Davis for AD.
