I understand the need to have pro-Tennessee voices doing the Vol Network football broadcasts but why not hire some announcers who could temper their "Big Orange enthusiasm" with some down-to-earth constructive criticism? I live here on the cusp of Washington Redskin country and get to listen to the trio of Sonny Jurgensen, Sam Huff, and Larry Michaels. While they openly cheer on air for their 'Skins, they are not reluctant to "tell it like it is" if they don't agree with how the game is being called, coached, or played by the Redskins. Since we all got fed up with the propaganda fed to us last year before, during, and after the games; I just feel that a little football knowledge with some biting on-air commentary might be just what Vol broadcast listeners would enjoy.

If Bob could just voice an honest opinion, it would be a good start. Of course, after hearing the term, scissors play, countless times, I'm doubting his overall knowledge of football.

I've been struggling with that idea for some time now. I do, however, like Tim Priest...that is his name, right?

He's a nice guy - and it shows. I've been pretty underwhelmed with Bob from the start and it is not because I missed JW - I just don't think he's that good.

Misleading thread title.

This.

Got my hopes up.

Anyone who had do follow JW would no doubt be a letdown to Vol listeners...the guy's a legend because he was that good. Bob. Well...Bob's not that good so it's a double whammy for him. Triple whammy if you include the delay used in modern day broadcasts. It's hard to follow on the tube and listen to the Vol Network anymore. Even JW would be hurting in that aspect.

All true, and yet Bob is worse than advertised. OMG he sucks, who was the UTK official that said yes to Bob Kesling. That individual should be bitchslapped.

I used to say that if I was blind, I could still listen to John Ward call the games. Ward had a way of painting a picture in my mind of what was happening on the field. Kesling just plainly explains the results without much detail. I too miss John Ward.

Right on target. Bob is a TV guy. John was a radio guy and told you what happened while it happened. Kessling waits til the dust clears and it never does. Doubt we will ever get a change until Bob decides to quit.
