New Bowl Projections out for ESPN and CBS Sports

I would take any bowl this season. I'd love a matchup with Georgia Tech or a Miami Beach Bowl matchup with BYU which wouldn't happen most likely.

Definitely wouldn't happen. The SEC doesn't have a bowl tie-in in that one. It has to be a school from the American Athletic Conference, Conference USA, Mid-American Conference, or Sun Belt Conference.

You mean we haven't yet clawed our way into consideration for the Sugar?

The Birmingham Bowl sounds absolutely WORTHLESS. Crap stadium, crap town and probably a crap opponent. Anything but that.

Yes, but would you rather be 5-7 and staying at home?

Well, that's not the way it's advertised. SEC #1,2,3,4,5,6, etc, ACC #1,2,3,4,5, etc. If they advertise a Bowl as SEC #3 vs ACC #2 then that's who should play. I'm loving the new decisions getting rid of the old one's. Tired of this politic BS. Cant wait til the playoff expands to 10-12 teams. Hello Bowls but bye-bye politics.

The SEC gets to decide, not the Bowls on selections 3-8. It will be plenty political too!

TN historically travels very well. We will take tens of thousands of screaming hillbillys most anywhere for a bowl game. If we were coming off a 9 or 10 win season I think there might be a bit of a let down on attendance. But with it being so long since we've made a bowl and with expectations rising I would guess we get a decent venue as I would expect several venues lobbying the SEC for us. At the end of the day it's up to the SEC to place us I think but I would expect lots of requests. Just my &0.02

If the Vols get to 7-5 they will be in either the Outback or Gator.

We're not getting the Outback bowl.

Music city or Liberty.

Actually, it depends on how big of a bowl game the conference is trying to turn the Music City Bowl into, as well as where the conference is going to try to fit Missouri.

Missouri-GT in the Belk Bowl would be a good matchup while South Carolina could play Texas in the Liberty Bowl.

Missouri may wind up in the Peach if they win out and lose the SEC title game

The offices might want to lower Missouri's travel distance though, for fans. That would make the Music City or Liberty bowl more likely landing points.

I'm not sure that "championship game loser can only far as fall as the chick-fil-a bowl" clause is still in play with the changes to the bowl tie-ins and the front offices now handling the bowl selection process.

It was really just in place to keep the bowls themselves from passing on a team that had a really good season but was from a smaller market (in favor of larger market/fanbase ones).

Marshall-Baylor would be a good Peach Bowl matchup

CBS predicted that Belk Bowl and ESPN that Liberty Bowl

I believe that somebody projected it. Just saying I would be shocked to see it happen. Mizzou fans aren't going to Charlotte. And after 11 win seasons, SC fans aren't excited about going to Memphis.

I dont care about the location of our bowl game, I'll be there. So happy that our Vols are playing well again. Thank you, josh!

If we manhandle Mizzou and Vandy, we are suddenly one of the hottest SEC teams and I honestly think we'd have a shot at either the Citrus or Outback Bowl. I know Bowl execs might be somewhat bound by record (ie., SEC No.4 or 5), but if given the option to choose which team they think would be the best current matchup, we would likely get the vote ahead of TAM or Mizzou (whom we would have already beaten, speaking hypothetically).

We'll have to wait and see, but thumping Mizzou would be a HUGE statement to bowl committees. Not only that, but attendance is another matter. We travel well, and selling out almost all of our home games this year speaks volumes to those same committees.

I know lots hate Birmingham and Shreveport but both of these games are on Saturdays --- which I would like -- no fear of having to work like a Monday or Tuesday

Exactly! If would be legit! Holler at me if you move down this way. Always like to watch games with UT fans. Not many of us around here.

Anyone know about how much bowl game tickets cost? I've never been to a UT bowl game, but I'm asking for tix for Xmas from the wife. Just like to know in advance how much money I'll have to spend on my Xmas gift lol.

rather go to the Birmingham Bowl and beat Memphis like a drum 59- 14 then play against a dangerous Okie St. team IMO......

Upper level seats at the Music City Bowl according to stubhub are from 30.12 to 50.88
