Who knows. I never said they should be given away. We went to the moon without an overriding profit motive. Some people are intrinsically motivated. People don't climb Mt. Everest for a profit.
I think that's the whole debate isn't it? Whether you think it should be or not is completely irrelevant to what the reality is.WTH does anything you say have to do with healthcare companies working for a profit? That’s what they are, a business. Whether you think they should be or not is completely irrelevant to what the reality is.
even with the ACA jump in costs my medical expenses don't come anywhere close to the extra 20% they are paying in taxes. no where close. my health care costs are about 5% of my income, the vast majority of that is just coverage. but I am healthy.Of course it is paid through taxes, but they don’t usually pay much out of pocket if at all after that because their coverage is much better. We pay our premiums and then pay for every visit and rx usually on top of that.
Here's why many prescription drugs in the US cost so much—and it's not innovation or improvement
Those countries actually negotiate costs at a national level and I highly doubt they are being sold at a loss. If it were such a burden to negotiate costs and they had to jack up costs in the U.S. to offset, these companies would not be making such large profit margins. Epipens were a prime example of the b.s. we deal with these companies. The price did not match the costs to make so they came out with coupons to make it slightly cheaper cause they knew they were in the wrong.
education: have you seen what universities charge? seen the switch to charter schools, and private?Education, social services, correctional, interstate/highways, judicial, parks and rec.
not sure what to do with the company. but the answer can't be to take the money from neighbors, which is the way the government wants to take this.I've been reading this argument about Pharma companies and want to interject something. Some drugs are only made by one company so they have a monopoly on that drug. At what point do they get to quit charging whatever they want? What if that drug cures some bone disease that you have and they want $40k a dose and your copay is $8k a dose and you don't have $8k? Is it F you see ya, come back when you have the money?
I'm all for companies making a profit and they should, but excessive profit at the expense of someones health I don't.

If enough people can’t afford the drug to make a profit they will change their price. What is a fair price for a drug that saves your life?I've been reading this argument about Pharma companies and want to interject something.
