She may have taken the PSAT (pre-SAT) and maybe the equivalent for the ACT. Once you get on their radar, it won’t stop for a good long while. She hasn't taken those yet, wife said she's been getting them lately though. I just saw apike on the table when i posted that, and had just got an email alert![]()
All 3 of mine have made good grades, oldest and youngest the best, with the middle one being the more athletic, but still great grades. My kids had dual enrollment, honors, and ap. Dont remember what ap was, but the colleges look at GPA, and how many classes you took that were in the above listed, and act/sat scores
(an example) my older daughter, #2 kid (after son, before The Spare) took a ton of AP courses. She went to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and entered as a sophomore due to the AP credits. She also was an NCAA soccer goalkeeper. My kids had dual enrollment, honors, and ap. Little bit seems to be the biggest book worm of the 3. Oldest is taking college while in the Air Force, she's smart with grades, beta club in HS, but she's good at mechanical stuff like me. It's just amazing to me how kids kinda each develop their own abilities.(an example) my older daughter, #2 kid (after son, before The Spare) took a ton of AP courses. Realistically, AP courses don’t usually let you graduate early. But they do generally let you graduate in four years, instead of five+, allowing you to take a lot more courses in your specialty, plus other courses that you would actually like to take.
If your kid has access to AP courses, do it. If they score high enough on the AP exam, they might be able to dodge some BS courses. Also, AP classes stretch the mind, and that’s a good thing for bright kids who might not be challenged enough in high school.
One thing I figured out after having the second kid, then the third:Little bit seems to be the biggest book worm of the 3. I take total credit for their loiks, smarts, and abilitiesOne thing I figured out after having the second kid, then the third:
Don’t take the credit for their success, nor the blame for their failures. Our genes and our upbringing gets them so far, and after that, it’s on them.
(But if they do well, you should absolutely take credit for their successes.)![]()
