Somehow, a thread titularly dedicated to Larry’s memory has become Joe’s stream of consciousness thread. This post is a break from that.
About the same time that MBRO was diagnosed with glioblastoma, my cousin was as well. The disease is inevitably fatal. It took Larry, but my cousin is still battling.
Cuz has no sign of tumors. Her latest MRI is clean. Still, the toll of surgeries and treatments impacts her. Her mind is strong, but her body is weak. She speaks in a whisper, loses her balance, and needs help navigating stairs. Her husband installed a lift for her at their home.
Covid-19 complicates matters, and denies us the opportunity to visit in person and physically give her husband a hand. A family friend who tested negative while in isolation moved in to help for awhile. She sacrifices contact with her kin and other friends to do this for my cousin and her husband. That quality of character makes me tear up.
Meanwhile, we, our cousin’s blood have FaceTime. If covid-19 wasn’t here, we’d be traveling to her town, visiting and lending a hand as we have before...
I gotta stop posting for a bit.
