Neverending MBRO memory thread

I see it differently. I don’t see it as panic, but being prudent instead. The canceling of events that is, the stockpiling of TP is freaking weird.

It may very well be an overreaction, I just don’t know if it is.

It’s the speed in which it’s spreading, that’s really concerning.
The regular flu spreads just as fast, we just have immunizations for it and have learned to just live through it. This is being over reported vs regular flu because everyone that even thinks they are sick are going to get tested. I have had the flu about 3 times in my life but never been diagnosed with it. The regular flu will kill more people in the US this year than Covid-9.

But the percentage of deaths is at least 10 times that of the flu. That is the concern if it becomes widespread.

I know, flu only once for me. It’s the unknown of how this virus will continue, that is causing this reaction out of everyone, IMO. Will it die out when it gets warmer (like the flu), will it mutate, how will the stock market rebound, the long period between infection to manifestation (14 days max), simply the unknown.

All UNC (this now includes those without UNC in their names, like WCU and NC State) campuses are adding on an additional week of spring spread (this week plus next) and then having online-only classes for the following two weeks, possibly longer.

Lower education is following suit also, which is a good thing. It will give everyone a chance to catch their collective breathe. Knowing you.. you, hubs, mom and extended family has been doing what is needed. While a concern and all precautions are taken, I’d worry about what I walked into my dry stock room, and not remember what I went in there to get, 10 seconds later.

Toilet paper maybe? 🤪

If things do really get bad, as in shortages, what I saw in Walmart tonight has convinced me you'll have to fight for your stuff.

Stood in line for 30 minutes for my milk, cereal, and charcoal. Girl and her boyfriend, or maybe husband, behind me bout brought the old me out.

Kept running into me with their buggy. I'd turn around, and she'd just roll her eyes at me. After I got my bags she was leaning on the card thing. I asked her nicely twice to move so I could pay. The second time she huffed, and I had to get rude. Told her she'd be standing there all night if she didn't get out of my way.

Oh yeah, school is closed for at least 2 weeks, and will reevaluate after that. One of the bosses at work his wife is a teacher. He said they're planning on the rest of the year, and doing a virtual graduation.
