Better chance than running for 24 yards. At least by passing you're giving yourself a chance. Heck, a guy might even get open by just one or two yards.

We beat ourselves as much as VT beat us.


This team, however, didn't quit. We couldn't execute to save our lives. We didn't quit though. I do feel like the team got really down on itself in the last 10 seconds of the 1st Half though. That's really tough. All wind was out of the sails at that point.


Keep your head up gentlemen.

Why would you try to air it out if Crompton has struggled. On the next drive Moore dropped a wide open pass. They didn't need to go deep at that time. They could have still won the game even if they did punt it.

But I remember when we did play the #1 team in the country and only lost by two, and then only because we couldn't make a FG.

You're right, there are plenty of whiney threads on VN. Mine, however, is not one of them. I'm merely stating a valid observation.

What's disappointing is that we made VT look a lot better than they really are. The Mighty Tar Heels of North Carolina don't think the Hokies are 23 points better than the Vols.

I didn't think you would, but I'll spell it out. Alabama is ranked #1 in the nation and we only lost to them in their house by 2 points. Yet you act like we should be pleased as punch that we lost by over 20 to Va Tech.

We were seriously outmanned, but if Denarius Moore takes care of business that margin is at least 14 points tighter. We didn't have anyone drop the ball (literally and figuratively) that bad against Bama.

No, but we did have three missed FG's, including two that were blocked.

Anyways, this was a total debacle tonight. I think we all know VT is better than UT this year, but at the same time, they shouldn't be more than 3 TD's better. UT just stunk it up tonight big time and got out-manned, out-played and out-coached.

Kiffin's play calling showed me that he quit. Multiple 3rd and long's with the game on the line and you call draw plays??? Give your team a chance. It's the freaking chicken bowl. Take a chance.

Talent is arising but i really wish the coach would win and LOSE with Class. Weak Handshake. He got beat by the better team and was outcoached by the better coaches. Deal with it Lane. It is ok. It will make you better. Just worry that the future doesn't bode well with an attitude like that.

Can't we just start one "piss and moan" thread and merge all of these together?

Let's continue the rebuilding. If we put together another top 10 class and are in this position next year, then let's complain a bit, eh?

I'm not buying the out-coached thing. Our offensive line was destroyed on almost every play. The defense simply couldn't stop the run. And it's not like VT was running some genius offensive scheme. They were just lining up and running it down our throats.

dude, we got dominated at the line of scrimmage. we have no experience in linebackers. those guys were overunning every play. our o-line was getting man handled. the fact is our lack of talent and injures caught up with us.

Too much negativity here, not enough levelheadedness. I'll be back in a few days when the hangovers have worn off, the Debby Downers have gone home, and sanity has returned.

We just went 7-6 with a depleted roster, multiple injuries, several off-the-field distractions, and a completely new offensive scheme. Would I have liked a better season? Sure. What fan wouldn't? It is what it is, and it's time we go on and enjoy the rest of the bowl season and get ready for recruiting season, spring practice season, and the summer rumor season. Only 8 months until 2-a-days!
