yes the clock had expired but the ball was still in play which means the game is not over. blown call that still upsets Kiffin. Sec admitted blown call.

Yeah, that didn't happen. Just the opposite, in fact. The SEC came out and said that any penalty during the play would have been irrelevant.

wrong again. anyone who understands football knows the rules. the play is not over until the ball is blown dead on a kick. the ball was not blown dead when he took his bonnet off. that's the rules. don't care what a bama writer says.

Wouldn't have mattered if they'd thrown the flag. Penalty still would have resulted in Bama's ball and the end of the game

jeez. the flag would have been thrown during the play since the infraction would have been before the ball was blown dead. therefore again BY Rule (rules, rules rules) the penalty would have been marked off against bama and the play replayed even if no time was on the clock. Tenn. Ball. wow......not that hard to follow the rules.

You are correct, but your recollection doesn't go far enough.

Yes, he took his helmet off while the play was still live BUT unsportsmanlike conduct is assessed as a dead ball penalty even if it occurs during a live ball situation. So, even if they'd thrown the flag, the result would have been the same: Bama ball, end of game.

When you keeping talking about "the rules", do you mean this rule?:

Unsportsmanlike Acts
ARTICLE 1. There shall be no unsportsmanlike conduct or any act
that interferes with orderly game administration on the part of players,
substitutes, coaches, authorized attendants or any other persons subject to
the rules, before the game, during the game or between periods.
a. Specifically prohibited acts and conduct include:

(f) Removal of a player's helmet before he is in the team area
(Exceptions: Team, media or injury timeouts; equipment
adjustment; through play; between periods; and during a
measurement for a first down).

If committed while the ball is alive, these fouls are treated as dead-ball
fouls.

PENALTY: Dead-ball foul or live-ball foul treated as dead-ball foul.
15 yards [S7 and S27] from the succeeding spot.

The play ended with Bama on offense.

"15 yards from the succeeding spot." Bama recovered the ball. The succeeding spot was where Bama recovered it.

As you can see starting at the 3:50 mark in the above video there was no recovery. No one even looked at the ball, which would have made no difference at all had the Unsportsmanlike conduct penalty seen at 3:55 been called by either of the two refs standing right behind Cody.

If have to I will get a screen shot and use crayons to draw it out.

Better yet maybe someone should get some crayons and show Saban how to slow down Trevor Lawrence next time.

Sorry your video cuts off, but Alabama absolutely recovered the kick. It was Julio Jones, specifically. He attempted to hand it to Rolando McClain, who wound up taking a knee, but Julio was down anyway.

Go to roughly 2:25:10.

He also took his helmet off as soon as he blocked the kick in celebration. That should have also resulted in a flag and an un-timed down.
When the clock hits zero and the ball hits the ground, game is over! Doesn’t matter at that point that he jerked his helmet off, geesh! Should they also have been penalized for the media and players rushing on to the field at the exact same instance? Besides the refs weren’t going to give Tennessee another shot over taking a helmet off after the game ends.

Wrong! Would of been a first down with the penalty and we make the field goal! Have to wonder about how dense Bama fans really are. Troll go back to your hole.

The trend continues, over rated team struggles against way less talented team. Call out the Calvary of zebras to save the day.

Of course they wouldn't.
