Never Say Never...

I am not so sure about that. Go back and look at the amount of talent bama had on defense alone and get back to me. Also, Trent Richardson & Mark Ingram were in the same backfield.
Agree, but Bama has always been "normal" on defense against teams with talented dual threat QB's. Deshaun Watson, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, all lit them up and with much less talent.

In 2009, Tennessee’s new head coach Lane Kiffin came to Knoxville spitting piss and vinegar. He brought with him Monte Kiffin, Jim Chaney, Ed Orgeron, Frank Wilson and Lance Thompson who were considered some of the best coaches in college football.
Alabama was fielding a highly talented, veteran team picked to finish in the top 10. Tennessee’s roster wasn’t the most talented bunch, but they played with heart, confidence and exceptional effort. The VOLS started a senior QB who hadn’t shown much during his career, an offensive line that started two undersized, walk-on brothers, and a middle linebacker who was 5-9 190 lbs.

This Tennessee team stood toe to toe with Alabama for the entire game, only to have the potential winning field goal blocked by the Crimson Tide in the final seconds. The VOLS lost that day 12-10. Alabama went on to win the National Championship that year.

I hope our Coaching staff, fans and players remember this....... Never say Never. GO VOLS!

After further review: The game film shows that the Alabama defensive tackle ran over the Tennessee center on the last play of the game. According to the NCAA Rule book, that is a penalty. Immediately after the final second ticked off..the referees that day were already running for the tunnel....

CLK had a good game plan that day for that team that game. He called a game to run the clock and keep the score close. And, that is exactly what he did.

He messed up by not trying to run one more play then put it on a kicker who had a bad leg.

ESPN’s FPI has Tennessee change at 2.6% and I think that’s probably about where it needs to be. That would have us winning about one in every 43 games. So yeah... It’s not impossible but anybody who’s putting their hopes on anything other than a beat down is almost certainly gonna be disappointed.

Delusion at it's finest. This Bama team would beat the 2009 Bama team by 4 TD's and maybe more. The game has changed in 10 years as Saban no longer has Bama as a smashmouth run you over program. Back then Greg McElroy was the QB and they had one very good WR and one good RB. Now they have a arguably the top QB and 4 WR's in the college game all starting on the same team.

We have no shot and it's really not even close. Back then, Bama had one breakaway threat. Now they have 6 skill position players on the field every play who can take it 80yds for a TD without being caught.

It is what is.
Shhhh...

Running over the center? Havent heard that excuse yet.
If you have heard that, there is plenty of thing you have heard. That has been a rule for a number of years.. In the old days, center were constantly being injured on field goal attempts. Long snappers are often small and very vulnerable.

Kiffin had some talent more importantly he had numbers. I just don’t believe we have the numbers specifically at Dline to compete with them. Their defense honestly isn’t better than Georgia or Florida imo but I don’t see us being able to contain their offense.

I will say never as in we are never beating Bama as long as Saban is there

They’re coming back to the pack alittle but most here can’t see it. Their OL and defense arent all that special. The big difference makers they have are at WR. I could see them losing to LSU maybe Auburn, definitely Ga.

They’ll most likely beat Tennessee as bad as they want but I don’t think this Alabama team is as dominant as recent teams.

You may be right, but at the same time, the Vols aren't even close to being the team they once were, the score will tell.

It's a never here because of their style of offense. Cant keep up.

The unlikely upset is more realistic if you're playing a defensive minded, lower scoring team. In that case a few turnovers can turn the game.

Not in this situation.

Nope. Our DBs are in for a long night of being embarrassed on national TV

I trust you read the second paragraph. They could be 4th in the SEC and beat UT by 35 right now.

Incredible. We win one SEC game and now people are actually entertaining the idea we could beat Bama? Just when I thought the "8 wins is the floor" comment was the most craziest thing I'd read on this board, along comes this thread.

edit: almost forgot...."Never!"

Wouldn't have mattered if they'd thrown the flag. Penalty still would have resulted in Bama's ball and the end of the game.

Unsportsmanlike conduct fouls

PENALTY –Live-ball fouls by players: 15 yards [S27]. Live-ball fouls by non-players and all dead-ball fouls: 15 yards from the succeeding spot [S7 and S27]. Automatic first down for fouls by Team B if not in conflict with other rules. Flagrant offenders, if players or substitutes, shall be disqualified [S47].

"15 yards from the succeeding spot." Bama recovered the ball. The succeeding spot was where Bama recovered it.

I think they will show up. Taylor, Thompson and Warrior are 3 pretty good ballplayers all with pro potential and I think Jackson is gonna be a good one. Flowers is a loss and I'm sure we'll look bad on the back end some but I think the secondary could have a decent day Sat. Besides, Alabama is a bunch of cheating commies!!
