Never Check Neyland Again

Yep, people are getting fed up with the BS

People were texting me about how bad the coaching was. We're not making this **** up. Butch is on thin ice with a bunch of fans

People are mad after a tough loss. It's understandable. Still if the players had executed properly on three different opportunities that the coaches put them we likely win that game.

I'm currently in B1G country and watched the game at BWWs. People there loved the checkerboard. It definitely looks amazing and get noticed nationally. Winning or losing shouldn't effect it. It's something we can do as fans to be a bigger part of the game. I get that there's a lot of doom and gloom on here after a loss but it truly is beautiful. I'm all for it.

Make that 2

Thanks. Totally agree. Fans and more importantly recruits were hyped. No correlation to losing, and the crowd was loud as hell. Some really ridiculous posts today - Butch is nothing but hype and gimmicks, so no checker Neyland, no grey uniforms . If we won everybody would be all about it.

Maybe if all fans brought four leaf clovers and rabbits feet it might work (blue font ) and we would not have to be so fu@%>#g silly after losing a close game to a ranked team.

I'm in too. I've seen sites that rave saying that say it is one of the best sites in all of football. I get the pessimism, but people who think we lost that game because of a themed venue are out of their minds. That crowd was electric and the stadium looked awesome.

This is one of the more sensible post I have read on this forum today. :hi:

Couldn't care less, checker it if you want to, has zero impact on the players and coaches and zero bearing on the outcome of the game. Looked great on TV, but I'd much rather have a focused, competent coaching staff pulling the right strings and giving our players, who gave everything they had, the best chance possible to win the game....that didn't happen last night.

Lets checker every game but checkerneyland.com should show everyone's shirts as orange.

Keep checkering Neyland as it looks beautiful on TV and gains national attention.

Cut 3rd down for what if only because fans should be using their hands to clap or slap on bleachers to make more noise.

Disagree!
The stadium looked amazing.
The atmosphere electric!
Great tradition and will be a great tool.
Just gotta get some wins.

Why stop there? We also should never let espn or CBS televise our games, never wear orange jerseys, or white jerseys, or gray jerseys, never run through the T before the game, don't defer when we win the toss, don't take the ball when we win the toss, and never let the POTS play Rocky Top. In the last 3 years we have lost games when doing these things, and I'm certain that they impact our execution on Off, Def, and special teams. It's time

If only we had about 50,000 fewer white shirts last night. Replace those with Orange and we're 2-0 right now.

Fans did their part, both times they choked.. Gimmicks don't work. Best team and best staff wins the game 9 out of 10. So maybe checker it this week to get a win finally. Maybe North Texas... Although they may give us a game.

Pssh. Yeah, the checkered stadium is to blame. Just like those gray uniforms. It had NOTHING to do with play execution, or play calling

get rid of checker Neyland. Looks great but it needs to go now, bad mojo. The way we lost the two checker Neyland games....never needs to be done again, at least in this decade.

No, it has nothing to do with execution or play calling. BUT... when the coach spends 2 years explaining why gray jersey is right and a day teaching how to clap 3 times and chant Rocky and Top alternately, some of that time could be better spent teaching execution and working on a game plan!

I, too, wear ORANGE!

You guys realize that while we are 0-2 checkerboarding the stadium, we're like 2-38 or something around that number against ranked teams since 2008 while wearing orange and 41-48 overall playing football?

Should probably chuck those as well.

I agree. There is nothing wrong with doing this once a year regardless of what type of team we have. The energy in the stadium was fantastic but the crowd doesn't play or coach the game does it?

you all realize that our checkerboard endzones, rocky top, and our orange jerseys all started out as gimmicks at one time right?

jesus this fanbase can rival bama fans on the idiot scale sometimes....

Bad mojo with the gimmicks. Tradition rules! GBO

Im sure the fans years ago thought that when we ran through the T in orange jerseys while the band is blaring rocky top for the first time.....

these kids and their crazy gimmicks! why are we not wearing our old grey jerseys, and who put that T on the side of the helmet, never mess with the helmet its tradition...and what the hell is that band playing? and why are the endzones painted checkerboard?

newsflash, all those were gimmicks that are now traditions. It has to start somewhere, all traditions do.

Hated it from the start, screw all the gimmicks and win a damn football game.

That "gimmick" resulted in five or six false start penalties for OU and likely impressed the hell out of our recruits.

If the third time's the charm, let's bust it out for the 2016 Bama game!
