Netflix

the movie lists have not improved much at all. the tv shows are much better.

That's because they lost a contract with Sony that had several big name movies on it (The Social Network was one) so all those were removed, and now their contract with the Starz Network has expired, so all of those movies are gone.

I think the TV shows make up for it but I do wish they had a better selection of movies.

Just finished my season 1-8 recap of Scrubs. Need something else to watch, preferably a show I haven't seen before. I've never seen How I Met Your Mother so I watched the first 2 episodes. Any suggestions on good shows?

watched the first part of the 6 part Millennium Series, which is the 3 original Stieg Larson ("Girl With the Dragon Tattoo") movies with 2 hours of additional footage.

having to deal with subtitles is annoying at times, but I'm growing to really love foreign films, especially before they're "Americanized"

Is Battlestar Galactica still on there? Great show.

Didn't renew my Netflix. They've really run that company into the ground. If you don't have movies that people want to watch, then what's the point? The only reason I had it anymore was for the tv shows. Oh well.

Start pirating. The studios, productions companies, cable providers obviously want their consumers to obviously considering how hard they keep pushing them. These content holders keep asking for more and more money from Netflix which would be passed down to the customer and harm their business. I'll start supporting again when these stupid companies join the rest of us in the 21st century.

Comcast blocking the use of HBO Go on Xbox 360 and Roku boxes was the last straw for me.

I hear you on all that, but obscure documentaries are my bread and butter, so it's still worth the money. Besides, Netflix streaming wasn't that good with blockbuster stuff except when they had Starz, which the studios threw a fit about.

But I've pirated pretty much every mainstream release I've cared to watch for years now.

Starz support blew on Netflix anyway as it was all SD quality. I use Netflix every day for TV and the occasional movie so I won't be getting rid of it any time soon. Still kind of a shame that they're now losing more than they're gaining. I think Netflix has served its purpose and made a point as to what people want. Hopefully in the next few years we'll see this type of service take the next step. Still all up to the content holders that just refuse to move on and adapt.

It's still blowing up though, in the last couple years alone you've had Roku, Comcast, Amazon and others get in the game.

How is Amazon Prime streaming compared to Netflix? Honestly, the only reason why I'd even hang on to Netflix is the fact that I can stream video from my Xbox. If only Prime had that. Don't they have some sort of college discount for the Prime service?

I dunno, it's really cheap anyways. The streaming service is roughly the same quality as Netflix, but you also have the option of purchasing newer releases for streaming for a seven day period. So it's sort of like Netflix combined with On Demand. Plus you get all the free express shipping stuff, which is nice. Mostly a worthwhile expense, IMO, particularly if you have a Kindle Fire.

But you're right about the fact that Netflix has apps on everything, which still puts it head and shoulders above all else.

Yes. First 6 months free and then 40 a year after. Totally worth it.

I actually just purchased a Fire and so I got the free 1 month of it. I just haven't looked at the titles yet. Mainly why I was asking about it. Although the Fire has a Netflix app that is pretty good.

I'm not really sure how long you can keep doing the college discount, but I'm going to keep doing it until they tell me I can't. The free streaming titles are not the best, but the ones you pay for are on par with Pay per view

I think I read it's up to 4 years on the student prime.

just finished watching "The Tudors", very well done. It's somewhat ironic that it was Elizabeth I, Henry's daughter via Anne Boleyn, who became quite possibly the greatest monarch in English history.

Just started watching a show called Breakout Kings and I like it pretty good. Lloyd Lowery is one of the best characters on T.V.
