Yeah, stockcars are very safe. I can't think of any safer form of racing than those cars. 3400lbs, full cage, safe barriers. In a car like that the biggest killer is the sudden stop involved with a crash. With open cars, the threat of something striking the driver is just as much as a threat as the sudden stop.

I never said racing was the only dangerous sport, but if you look at the past 20 years a lot more racers have died on than have on the football field.

they aren't highly publicized then. There were about 6 football players died since this summer. I'm not being a ***** just curious if it's that under reported

Historically motorsports have been very dangerous for both participants and spectators. Given the nature of the sport and the speed involved, everyone realizes there is a great risk of bad injuries and fatalities. Over the past year there have been a number of fatal accidents, which probably didn't get much coverage in the US, because there are so many types of racing all over the world.

In my original post I never stated that other sports were not dangerous. I stated that I can't really think of one that is more dangerous than racing. I still stand by that.

Driving cars 200+ mph is dangerous. The entire endzone family sends our condolences to Wheldon's family.
