Negative Kiffin Press is Getting Old

Similar, yes.

Thing is, over time SOS was so successful that even rival fans just started laughing along with most of his antagonistic and jabbing comments.

Kiffin will get more leeway if he wins consistently like SOS did. If not, it won't be the rival fans driving him out.

How many times did Spurrier have his teeth kicked in by Bowden when he made the infamous "Free Shoes University"?

Yeah, but he came in and had that explosive offense and we were, year-over-year, now competitive with FSU, trading victories and the top spots in the polls, on a regular basis.

If Kiffin can make UT competitive for the top of the SEC, with Florida, LSU, and Alabama, on a long term basis, the national success will follow and his bad filtering skills will largely be forgiven by the media.

Basic truism is that if you are successful and back it up, you get respect, and with that the right to talk some smack and get away with it.

Whether it's intentional or not we are attracting great recruits, so I say keep it up. As to the "before he has coached a game" argument, I don't think he has had a chance to coach a game here, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t do everything he can in the recruiting department to bring great recruits to Tennessee. That's exactly what I see him doing, so I don't see the reason for the complaints.

post hoc ergo propter hoc

Just because it comes after at thing, doesn't mean it it is because of the thing.

The recruiting success seems to be a product of good (and, hopefully, legal) recruiting. These are two separate issues. Recruiting good. Mouth-running bad.

You don't know that these are completely separate issues any more than he knows they are not.

as for crazy work hours for the staff. If that's true, then it will be worth it! I mean, the coaches are working hard, but not putting 23 hrs a day in it like this Bammer might think...

IF YOUR BAMMER FRIEND IS SAYING THAT CLK IS OVERWORKING STAFF HE CLEARLY KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT SABAN..
LAST YEAR SABAN AND STAFF WORKED PAST 10PM CHRISTMAS EVE..
SO....GLASS HOUSES FRIEND.

SOS only beat FSU once in his first 5 years. Not really a solid trade

You and I both know that Kiffin could win every game except the Florida game and Gators would still be trolling this board ripping him for opening his mouth.

Coaches MR and LM get top 10 recruiting classes and Kiffin gets the press. Saban has restored some glory to bama and Kiffin gets the press. Florida wins a National championship and Kiffin gets the press. Kiffin gets a top recruiting class in 3 months and now he has a big turnout of elites at his first camp......You can bet the other SEC schools know where this is headed and they are pulling every string, calling in every favor in the media to get Kiffin as much bad press as possible. Trouble is, it ain't workin, The athletes just keep coming now don't they.

yes, but the QBs are lagging behind...

Now that i see the press this way, Kiffin is a pure genious. Bama and UF should be the ones everyone's talking about, yet that's not the case! Brilliant!

clk's publicity stunts are just that, stunts. he hasn't proven anything to us yet...i agree all this silly childish antics are getting old and i'm afraid to admit...gators, dawgs and tiders are going to not go easy on us...we've not seen the tip of the iceberg abuse we are going to get about mid season.

They weren't planning on going easy on us anyway, no matter who the coach was, who are you trying to fool?

Kiffin's doing this all on purpose---it's a psychological thing, to get the opposing coaches thinking about him more than the team itself. It will all work itself out in the next couple of seasons.
