Look fellows on todays performance you have to go with Bray nothing was to special out of either guy really, but Bray was better I think that Nick Stephens can do the same things and if he at UT right now he should be kicking himself in the nutts! Seriously. I want Tyler Bray to start I wish nic was on the team right now to bring out the best of all of them so we could get a better starter.

The reason Stephens left is because he knew he wouldn't start, so I wouldnt say he is kicking himself now

Start Bray. He looks like he may give us the best chance to win. So what about the weight issue, he will put it on in time. With as good as poole looks and our depth at receiver, if we can work with him most of the fall and keep it simple for him, get him to make some good quick decisions, I think we will be ok. Still going to be a tough season, but it will make Bray alot better come next year.

I understand the issue with Bray's weight, but even if you have Daunte Culpepper back there you still don't want him taking shots from the middle linebacker. This isn't a position where the guy has to be physical, he just needs to be smart and accurate. Again, this team will run the ball much more than we saw today (b/c the starting OLinemen were split) and with Stocker and Poole we can rely on short passing.

i have said for all along that Bray should start 4 years. Everyone knows this year will be a hard year for us. Just think how good he could be with a a few years starting under his belt. with some good recruiting classes around him we could be very good by middle of next year.

i agree, its already gonna a rough year. so just throw him to the wolves and let him from his mistakes now.

Agree.....this is not going to be the year we all want in terms of wins. Bray can get the experience by fire this year and excel next year. Sounds good!

That's all well and good until we treat him like Crompton and start making death threats and make him a head case. If you say throw him to the wolves, you must realize....we're the wolves. If the boy plays, let him play. It's going to be very very hard for a freshman or for anyone. he's going to throw picks, he's going to take sacks. It's just part of it.

The death threats are inexcusable, and I'll admit I criticized JC the last two years, but he was also a 4th yr junior in '08 and a fifth yr senior in '09. That's a whole different story

Yeah....I know we SAY thats a whole different story, but we will see if it is if/when Bray starts and makes freshman mistakes. I wish the kid the best. I really do feel he will end up with this starting job.

If Denarius would have caught half the balls thrown his way, Bray woulda had an awesome day...Simms looked rattled from the get-go, however the White D-Line was in his grill all day sooo...Excited about Bray though. GBO!

Agreed. A lot of passes went through Moore's hands. And some passes were just BARELY out of reach. Mainly, timing issues. Yes, Simms did have a lot more coming at him, but he still just didn't look like a QB that had the swagger we heard about. Bray looked like he had played in front of that crowd many times. Especially in that 2 minute drill. He just looked like it was no problem. Very poised and in control

I'm not saying Bray will play great at all times, but if he screws up the obvious response is "he's only a true freshman". Last year the only response brought up when JC was criticized was " Stephens won't be any better". Plus the coaches aren't going to rely on him to carry the team, and we all have low expectations with this team anyway

Agreed. I know that spring practice is over but Tyler Bray should be taking all the first team snaps from here on out. I'm not usually one to just dog a player, but I was disgusted with Matt Simms today. He held the ball way too long, he was inaccurate, and when he did make a decision he threw it to the wrong team 3 times. He should have had more interceptions but G.Jones saved his ass a couple of times. His numbers from all the scrimmages and the orange and white game are terrible. He may have the "it" factor or whatever they say, but obviously the "it" factor doesn't help you complete passes. I mean, when I watch him, I don't even see any potential to improve. I may be wrong but that is just my honest opinion.

he already looks more comfortable and made better decisions.simms was missing the 5 and 10 yard outs (thats not gonna fly).we have to hit the short outs to compliment the run.

Bray's completion percentage was due to Moore/Milton dropping a few and more down field passes being thrown. For a Freshman right out of high school he looked good. Showed poise and has a rocket arm. No mistakes, no INT's, and looked like he knew what he was doing. Bottom line he led his team to 4 scores (1 TD, 3 FG) to Simms 1 score (1 TD) and it was really all G. Jones doing.

Eh....there was a few that could have been. He wasn't perfect on the day. But no INT's on the scorecard at all.

Yeah he had two picks dropped but so did Simms. Simms was being harrassed though to a much greater degree. Walls was all over the place.

I wonder just exactly how Bray would have fared against the White defense, and Simms the orange.

I don't know the answer to that obviously, but I'm going to guess Bray. Not really because of his ability or his linemen, but just by his way of playing. His decision making was smart, he didn't scramble at first contact. He looked at his options, and threw to a open receiver. He wasn't afraid to go deep, and most times OVERthrew his receiver, which is a much better way to miss.

He just seemed to have the intangibles. Simms reminded me of Crompton 2.0.

We're too thin at QB now to redshirt him anyway so I agree. Unless the coaches feel like he doesn't have the mental toughness to bounce back from the mistakes that he will make this year, he should start.

I wish Denarius caught the post route that was thrown. If that would have been complete, Bray would be the hands down starter going into the fall!

Seems like Bray was not under as much pressure as Simms.
That said Simms looked more uneasy than Bray did.

If they are equal, you go with the FR.
