I know the book was written by a Bama guy.
Wanted to know if it a non-bias book, that is a good read for both sides?

I got a copy of the book several yrs. ago as a gift from my grandsons. It was written by a guy named Al Browning who was once a sports editor of the Knoxville-News Sentinel as well as the Tuscaloosa News. He is from Ala. The book is basically non partisan and perhaps as objective as you would find from an Ala. native [this is always a negative]. My editiion (second edition) only goes through the 2000 game; I assume that there is an updated edition....He covers each game from the 1928 game to the 2000 one and really does try to add incidental info. that makes for good reading...It is rather well-written....To simplify my review - It's interesting with a lot of anecdotal info. that helps one to see why this is such a great rivalry....It is a large paperback and the list price on my copy is $16.95...Maybe this will give you a little insight into whether it is worth the price...

I've had this book for several years now and it is a quality read. It contains a lot of detail concerning coaches and players for each game each year, it is a read that can really put the TN vs ALA rivalry in perspective for anyone who doesn't really know just how deep this bitter series has been. It is in my opinion a must read for any serious TN or ALA fan.

On a side note, TN captain Denver Crawford mentioned in the book was my defensive coordinator when I played in High School.

Do you have the updated version?

I have the updated version (2000, maybe?). Unfortunately, they never edited the original 1987 ending to the end of 2000, so it's quite apparent that the post-87 games were just tacked on to the end.
