Need info for going to Arky

Fayetteville is a good trip. It is a nice town with a great football atmosphere. There are bad fans everywhere, but it is nothing like LSU. I usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express just off I-540 near the campus. It is easy to get in to the game and back to the hotel afterwards. If you can't get a room in Fayetteville proper, stay at the Embassy Suites in Rogers. It is close to several restaurants and a new mall.

You should definitely make Dickson St.. It is a good college atmosphere and is a blast after games. As for restaurants, you might want to try Bordinos (slightly upscale italian), Hugos (burgers), Powerhouse (seafood), or Hog Haus (micro brews).

People who have made references to bugs or mosquitos must be thinking about Jonesboro in east AR - not Fayetteville.

Going to be a tough game this year - Arkansas has a lot of experience returning on both sides of the ball. They are loaded on offense with probably the best receiving core in the nation. They have 4 guys that can catch and take it to the house. Running back is very good and QB should be stable. Weakest aspect on offense is the line. Their defense will be greatly improved in part by increased depth on their defensive line. The LB are solid. The secondary is the weakest aspect of the defense, but they should be improved over last year. It is a game late in the year so who knows how injuries will impact the game.

I tried to tell the Arky fans not to completely underestimate us. LSU did lastyear and it almost cost them. Im not saying we win 100%, but its the SEC and you never know. With Bray's potential, and a 1000yd rusher coming back with a line with a year more experience, we dont really know what our offense can do. Our D-Line can be totally hit or miss, and our line backers are suspect at this point, and our secondary will match up well with Arkys WR's. They dont have a proven QB either. That's why im waiting to watch the game to say whether we win or not. Arkansas fans arent willing to wait that long to predict a win.

I can't STAND LSU fans.... especially when they are in Red Stick

Last time I was Fayetteville was in '95 during Manning's sophomore season. I'm sure much has changed since then (except for the fanbase).

The HOG fans can be somewhat obnoxious but compared to other fanbase's, they are considered mild.

Growth has been extreme since then.

If you don't act like a tool you will have a great time. I prefer attending games against Ark in Little Rock, which is one of the best tailgating and the most underrated in the country.
But Fville is good. The fans have always treated me very well. Like all place you go, the younger fans get drunk and can act stupid, but all in all their fans are amongst the highest class you will run into in the SEC.
Probably the worse part will be us getting our head caved in by them. I think Ark will be very, very good.
So go, be cool and you will have fun. I stay in Rogers at the Embassy suites and always eat at Hermans. Hermans is great but it's cash only.
You'll have fun.

I also find it funny that the fanbase of any SEC school would call the fan base of another redneck.
Trust me, I've been to all 12 and NONE have any room to talk, UT included.

Herman's is no longer cash only. They take cards and I have a monthly account there.

I went to the '99 game that UT lost. The fans were fine during the game but they were extremely obnoxious on the way out, taunting us but I never felt physically threatened. If UT had won it might have been a different story.

One thing I thought was cool was some of the Arkansas fans by the interstate had spray painted the score on the roof of their barns so you could see it as you drove by.

That's good. First time I went we ate and drank a ton and barely had enough cash to get out of there, but it was worth it.
Also good to know I can just charge my stuff to the BPV account...

I am traveling with the alumni and we are staying at the Embassy Suites in Rogers which is the team hotel. This will be my first time to Arky also. The package with the alumni includes airfare also, I did not take the airfare since I live outside nashville I will be making my own arrangements for flights from Nashville.

Since moving from East TN, ive been living in Texas and I'm in serious need of watchin our boys play(in person). Fayetteville is as close as ill get, barring a independence bowl appearance. How many of you guys have been there, and what was the experience like?!?! I dont expect them to be as bad as most, but then again ive never been to an away game. Any info is appreciated.:loco:

To get there from Texas, just go North several hunder miles, and back 50 years.

Arkansas is not a place to tailgate. They have very little space to do so, and the spaces they do have is rented out to hog fans. Although I have to say the stadium and facilities are very nice ,but if u need a little pregame I hear Dixon St. is the place. Just like any other college town a street with alot of bars. I will be attending the Arkansas game cause unfortunately I am forced to live here.

I have had zero problems finding places to tailgate in Fville and Def not little rock.
Ark is my favorite place to tailgate/party in the SEC next to Knoxville.

I lived there for 5 years, it's a fun atmosphere and great stadium....
Fans aren't too bad, but are touchy if you bring up Stoerner

Eat at Slim's or Whole Hog Cafe.....
Whole will have some of the best BBQ you've ever had

and have a beer at Roger's Rec on Dickson St

Whole Hog has backslid a bit since they franchised so broadly. Was once the bet barbq anywhere, especially the rib sammich, but isn't any longer the best. Sad tale. On the positive, they do now bottle and retail sell their sauces. #4 is the best BBQ sauce they is.

i Can't remember is 4 the spicy one, it was my favorite

To the OP
Hugo's was a solid reco for the burgers and the atmosphere is unique

Not really a fan of Doe's or Herman's, steaks are great but the salad at Doe's is horrible, and there's no baked potato at Herman's...They serve Hashbrowns for the potato

4 was the southern vinegar and spice.

Herman's potatoes in the garlic sauce are money. The ribs are strong too.

Doe's is only about the meat and tamales. Some people like that crap salad, but it isn't for me.

Theo's and Bordinos are also decent steaks, but frou frou. Wasabi does some solid sushi.
