You're right. Its an overglorified eyetoy.

Microsoft's list of games for it doesn't help at all in any case against "We want casual gaming money too! See we can do your sports games and animals. It's bright and colorful like you guys like too! Buy me buy me buy me!" :/

Something wrong with them wanting to make money?? You seem a lil bitter about the Kinect...is it that you really want one and cant afford it?? Or you dont have kids so you dont have an excuse to pick one up and realize you'd actually have fun with it?:):p

I am leaning towards getting an xbox360 bc i have a couple of friends that play and have the new cod game black ops? I guess my dad will have to buy his own blue ray.

So if I buy a xbox anything specific I need in my console?

...and kinect's not a wii ripoff either?

No completely different.. and wayy more advanced. Research it. Ps3 has two controllers just like the wii.. Xbox however has sensors, microphones and a camera to enable you to use your whole body as a controller. Ripoff? I think not

If you were rich like me you could just buy both.

Just kidding, I bought my 360 four years ago and my wife surprised me with the PS3 at Christmas two years ago. I do use the PS3 alot for blu-ray and Netflx streaming (like it better than the 360) but do 95% of my gaming on the 360.

I am going to go with walmart, 2 games that i might enjoy beats everyone else, is it bad that the xbox will only have 4gb?

You can grab a HD for cheap, the problem with 4gb is that you won't be able to install games to it, which allows you to run games without the disk spinning constantly, which keeps things running cooler, which keeps the fans from running constantly and all.

After playing only installed games for a long time, it sounds like a jet engine to me running anything off of the disk. Before I didn't even notice the sound.

I don't know to be honest. My PS3 has a 60gb HD so by comparison that seems awfully low. I guess it depends on how 360 games save and how much space they take up.

The base model of the slims (360) is only a 4gb hard drive. For someone who is a casual gamer and not going to be dl much, it wouldn't be a problem. If you want to start installing games or dl content off of XBL, then it would be a problem. Personall, I would just go with the bigger HD since it will last longer with any DLC you happen to get. The new chips are superior to the old chips in the 1st gen 360's. They fixed the RROD with the 2nd gen? with the jasper chips. Another nice thing about the new slims is that they come standard with a wireless n card. This means a "substantial" upgrade to normal wireless networks in range and stability. If you like racing games, then look into the ps3 for Gran Turismo as the 360 has good racing games, but none like Gran Turismo. Game Stop has good deals on used or refurb units of the new slim also. Just check with them and on their website. Just be careful to ask if it comes with a HD. They don't always come with HD unless they are new. Good luck!

No, you can install games and only spin the disc to start the game, the rest runs off the HD, it runs things smoother IMO, and much quieter. I've installed everything I play since the feature came out.

I would definately look into a HD, you can get a refurbished one for a reasonable price, between DLC and different knick knacks, you will burn through 4gb pretty fast.

Going to get a PS3, just finished talking with my father, and we decided that the we would be using the ps3 more for blue ray than gaming lol. Is this a smart choice? lol
