Hey everybody! My girlfriend and I are coming up for the game this Saturday and we are thinking about staying the night so we can spend the day in Gatlinburg on Sunday. Does anybody know of any good hotels in the area that are pretty nice and don't have an outrageous rate? We are both college students, so we don't have a huge budget. Thanks and GO VOLS!

If your girlfriend has any hot friends that like to drink, you can stay at my apartment on the strip.

I hear the No Tell Motel on Gay Street has hourly rates, but their clients are not usually in town for sporting events.

Everything in town has increased rates on game weekends, and some charge double night fees (there's even some out at West Hills Mall area that do that). So, my advice is get on travelocity or something and find something outside the city limits (east of course, if you're planning on heading in to G-burg). You may find something affordable in Sevierville and it's not that far out from downtown.

Does the downtown Hampton think its a Ritz- $350 a night for fri and sat- that seems to exceed the laws of supply and demand

It doesn't exceed demand ... that's why they can get that price.
There are others on either side of town (E/W) and out near the airport (S) that have vacancies at lower rates. N is a little tough unless you are heading out that way on Sunday since most of the available rooms are well north of "town."

Strawberry Plains is east of town and has some hotels that are nice. It is about 15 min to downtown. West, try Turkey Creek.

Yeah Strawberry Plains has more of Selection with good prices but Turkey Creek has a few good hotels too!
