What's up guys I posted at The Pub a couple months back and didn't get much feedback so I thought I'd be a pain and bring it over to the forum that's actually looked at. I'm leaving for Knoxville to check out UT Law tomorrow and am wondering what I should do while I'm there (bars, activities, etc...mainly bars). Thanks for your feedback!

I strongly suggest you reconsider your career plans.

Listen very carefully and take notes. This is what you do.

Go to the Law School library. Be careful not to trip over their book. Go online. Go to the website for the University of Florida. Click on the law school link. Donwload an application. Fill it out. Federal express it in. And then leave UT law school without making eye contact with anyone.

I appreciate all the schooling advice, but I'm not planning on going to UT anyways. I booked this trip a couple months ago and am just going to go.

Check the strip and Old City--lots of bars in a small area, so it doesn't really matter which one you choose. If you don't like it, walk next door to another.

EDIT: Nevermind.

Ignore these lawyer bashing buffoons. I graduated from UT undergrad about 2 years ago. For places to hang out, I prefer Downtown Grill and Brewery on Gay St. or Preservation Pub on Market Square. MacLeod's is also a fun place on Market Sq. As for places on the Strip (Cumberland) Cool Beans is ok if you want to hang out with the Greek crowd. Chili's is usually pretty happening, but it closes at midnight. There's also a bar called Toddy's that's a ways down Kingston Pk. where you can play horseshoes.

That's mostly the places I hung out during my time in Knoxville. Good luck and have fun.

You would be a lunatic to pay the out of state tuition to attend Florida.

Bars:
Old City: Urban Bar and Barleys are the best. Both are usually alot of fun and serve really good food. Urban Bar is a little more "Party" style, while Barley's is a little more laid back.

Market Square: Preservation Pub is small but fun. Downtown Grill and Brewery is one of my favorites. (Join the Stein of the Month Club!!!)http://macleodsrestaurantandpub.com/ MacLeod's is an alright Irish Pub. Saphire is nice, but pricey.

The Strip: Pretty much, not a great time. It's overcrowded with freshman and there is no parking. If you do find yourself down there... Hannah's is alright, but its usually crowded. Cool Beans..... New Amsterdam and RT's are alright. Alot of people go to BDubs.

Clubs: Bar Knoxville, Cube, Tonic.... not my thing.

Yeah I have. UT actually admitted me about a month and a half before anyone else did which I was fairly surprised by. By the general attitude of the forum I take it is not seen as exactly the most stellar program? I'm surprised if that's the case because all the rankings mark it fairly competitive. Either way thanks for all the information.

I'm a 2L at UT law right now. It's fantastic and a great program. UT actually has a very competitive law school and a myriad of opportunities.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. The law school actually has a bar night every Thursday we call "Rump Court" and I'll be glad to let you know where we're heading tomorrow night.

Oh to the contrary.Just about all of the judges in Rutherford County are UT grads.I have used several attorneys as well from there and it was money well spent, we'll leave it at that.UT is a tough school to get in, I know a girl that graduated from there and a girl that got in the last day.HatVol graduated from there and he seems to be doing okay.

Yeah, our law school is supposedly really good. I'm a grad student in engineering, but I know some people in law school here, and they say it's a great program. I also know a lot of people who did well as an undergrad and didn't get into it, so that says something.

P.S. Go to Barley's, Patrick Sullivan's, Barley's or Urban Bar in the Old City. If you happen to be out west try and find Union Jack's. It's a really cool British Pub with a HUGE beer selection. If you have to go to the strip, Hannah's is pretty good, and The Beer Sellar is decent. Downtown Grill and Brewery is also awesome if you're downtown. They're microbrews do the job.
