I've got about $500 that I'm taking out of a commission that I'm looking to spend, and the rest will be for good ol' uncle sam. :bad:

Help me with my decision......
  1. New receiver
  2. Blu-ray stand-alone player
  3. PS3
For starters I'm doubting $500 will get a receiver with everything I'm wanting in one. So I'm kinda leaning in the blu-ray direction. Also will a stand-alone blu-ray player offer anything that a PS3 want? Basically do you lose anything features, quality, etc with playing blu-ray on a PS3? I'm really not concerned about playing games on the PS3, but if it's the wiser decision then it's a no brainer.

I think I'd buy a PS3 to play Blu Ray, and the next $80 you have to go with your extra $100 I'd buy the HDDVD attachment to the 360. You now have both for $580, and two good gaming systems.

PS3 had a good bluray player I'd get that. There is no reason to have HDDVD and Bluray so I'd just get the PS3 one, or buy the HDDVD attachment for the 360 and have $400 to spend on movies and a reciever

Definitely....but I think smokey has the HDDVD for the 360 so he could use that money to buy some games/movies..or half it between us.:)

Yep I got the HD Drive already so I will have the best of both worlds. :)

If that's the case, I'd throw down on a PS3 and use your leftover for some good movies.

Edit: I'm thinking of buying the HD drive, is it worth it?

I think it was. Only reason I'm getting the blu-ray is to pickup other titles.

PS3.

Why would anyone buy a stand alone Blu Ray nowdays?

News last week of Warner going BluRay only looks to be some big nails being driven into HD-DVD's coffin.
