Neal leads Vols in Saturday's scrimmage

If things go the way we all hope they will at UT (championships for years to come), this is the sort of quote that will become Dooley classics, imo.

It’s right about where I thought we were. I didn’t think we were any good three days ago, I just didn’t say it.

The Vols will have to watch the film from the scrimmage and work like heck this week.

Offense, especially the passing game is always rusty this time of year. It takes so many reps to get everything in sync it is hard to be crisp in that area with so few practices so that doesn't worry me. I do like what Neal did today. Ever since we signed this kid I have said he will be something special. He reminds me of Travis Henry for some reason.

I wanna see that OL domination again so we can ground it out...with our talent at WR and Bray stays healthy...maybe, just maybe...9 wins this year

I would almost like to see us pass to set up the run.

"I think that used to always be the case, but I think the times have changed a little bit. I don’t know if any group is ahead — we’re just kind of chugging along. They’re probably both behind. I don’t know who we’re behind, but we’re not ahead of anybody"

Poole still has a firm grasp on the starting job, according to Austin Ward.

“Rajion ran against the (second-team defense) and got most of his yards,” Vols coach Derek Dooley said on Tuesday. “It was not a defense you’d be proud of if you watched it. JT would have had about 94 yards against them, Rajion had (152) — and JT, as you know, is my 12-year-old son.

Dooley said Poole has improved as much as anyone so far this spring.

Starting to wonder if Dooley even likes Neal:confused:

Dooley likes Neal, he's just going to push him and Neal will have to earn the spot if he replaces the senior Poole. I expect Neal will get much more playing time this year and all will depend on who performs. Kind of like the quarterback last year with Simms and Bray.

A Neal/Poole combo sounds pretty solid to me. Let them compete and worry who's the big dog till August 30th.

What I'll be looking for is whether Bray gets picked more. Last year he threw into a lot of tight coverage, but he didn't get burned on it much because we had some good and Tall receivers who could climb the ladder and win the match.

So I'm wondering if Bray will still commit to throw into the same tight coverage situations with this less experienced reciever core.

I wonder about Bray's int's too. Mainly I wish he was playing against our full healthy backfield. With JJ out and PW hurt I'm not sure he's seeing/practicing against the same level of coverage as our opponents will bring.

Our two main recivers were under 6ft. Not tall at all
