NCST Offense

They have three rb's that are pretty good.

Their oline is a veteran group but ranked 98th in sacks allowed last year(not vs SEC defenses either). They also ranked 109th in rushing last year.

Their te is decent(9rec 84yds last year)

They lost three of the top four wr's. They only have two wr's that had at least 10 catches last year and one of those is hurt. Tobias Palmer is the other and he's pretty good(47 rec 600+yds last year). They are pretty thin and very inexperienced at wr.

Here's their wr's and backups:
wr1-redshirt senior Tobias Palmer
Backup 1-redshirt Jr Rashard Smith(1rec 6yds last year)
Backup 2- Hakeem Flowers redshirt freshman
wr2- redshirt Jr Quinton Payton(7rec 107yds last year, 10th on team in rec)
Backup 1- redshirt freshman Maurice Morris
Backup 2- redshirt freshman Charlie Hegedus

I think if we can pressure Glennon he's gonna have a frustrating night. Those wr's after Palmer may have decent talent but that much inexperience will surely cause some problems for their passing game. I think we will make stopping the run a priority and see if Glennon can beat us with a questionable wr corps.

This game has been promoted as the battle between two 1st round draft pick QBs. Within the last few weeks Glennon has been getting some recognition. I honestly didn't hear too much about him last season.

Agreed, the only reason I have heard of chinless glennos is because UT is playing them. Otherwise, I still wouldn't know who he is.

I had actually heard of him when he was at VT and watched him a little but wasn't impressed..Apparently, he has gotten better since he's been at NC St.,but we will see Friday.

I think we will wear NCST down. I went back and looked at their recruiting rank compared to ours for the last 5 years. Our average is 16th theirs is 51st. I know recruiting rankings dont tell the whole story but I think they have a few really good players and alot of average players. I just think we have more talent across the board and wear them down.

Our '08 and '09 classes wouldn't be in the top 70 if rated now.

Wrong. They were missing 7 starters for the Cincy game. We lost Hunter and had a nuclear meltdown. They lost 7. They can move the ball.

This. I thought the majority of the injuries were on the defensive side of the ball. I swear they were getting into their 3rd/4th players on the depth chart on the D line.

Putting Glennon on a stretcher early will go a long way in a VOLUNTEER victory. # 98 could just slip and fall on that neck of his.:vava: Go Vols....!

Your right..power development and rating systems that don't know what their doing are a part of this.

Those were bowl games that nobody wanted to play in and they meant absolutely nothing at the time. Back then we expected to go to good bowl games, and we need to get back to that mindset but we will. That was a pretty good Maryland team at the time, not nearly the same comparison.

Lathers? I don't really know. My main point was to show that focusing on the recruiting rankings doesn't always tell the tale.

I think there are almost as many Fulmer recruits on the roster as kiffin recruits. 8-9 RS seniors : 8-9 true seniors.

Glennon's very good, not great, but an above average QB. Found this QB ranking where Bray and Glennon are 3 and 4 on their list. College football's top five quarterbacks not named Matt Barkley - NCAA Football - Sporting News

Im not going to start an argument on whose better, Glennon is more proven, but seems like Bray has more potential. Im happy with a bird in the hand. I'm also expecting big things from our running backs. Creecy is looking good, and hopefully Greene will pick up where he left off two years ago. Should be a good one.

You guys also had Cinci at home. We had them on a thursday night at their place. It makes a difference. It was also one of our worst performances over the last two years. Not trying to make excuses, but basing the quality of our team off of one game, that game, is a mistake.

Since all we have is last year:

Passing: UT 2911 yards 18 TD
NCSU 3120 yards 32 TD

Rushing: UT 1081 yards 10 TD
NCSU 1363 yards 11 TD

Pass Defense: UT 2134 yards 14 TD
NCSU 2908 yards 17 TD

Rush Defense: UT 1952 yards 17 TD
NCSU 1702 yards 18 TD

Now remember they did play an extra game.

They were better than us at passing and rushing (barely in both if you exclude touchdowns). We were actually way better than them at pass defense, but worse at rush defense.

Here is the key. We lost our leading receiver, but they have lost 3 out of the top 4 receivers.

Both run games should improve or at least stay the same.

That run defense that was better than us, none of those LB's are back. They are deathly thin in that area.

What I'm trying to say is. Forget about the competition we played and the fact that Bray and Hunter were injured. We still look better on paper as far as moving from last year to this year. Four More Days.
