NCAA Tournament: Sort of a gamethread

What's that, lg complaining about the refs?

No. Florida is continuing to play this cat and mouse game with good teams and, sooner or later, they are going to dig themselves a hole they cannot get out of. Its part of the learning process, I suppose. Problem is, the lesson -- when it comes -- will not be something that they can use in another college basketball game because there won't be one.

Butler is a very good team. Disciplined and they execute as well as anyone. They had a good game plan and it worked until Florida's big men decided to turn it up a notch and assert themselves. I guess I can understand the laziness, the complacency. But it sure does make us fans live in a constant state of anxiety.

One would like to think that, a step away from the Final Four, the Gators are going to play hard for 40 minutes. With all the distractions, the enormous target on their backs, the fact that no one except their own fans are rooting for them, the media attention on Donovan, the NBA.... its a lot to overcome.

4 juniors that won it all last year should not have to go through the learning process.

Mostly sophomores then, actually. And no doubt that experience has served them well in the last five minutes of these big games. Still, you are right. I guess that at their age they do not quite grasp the opportunity here at sports immortality. Regardless of what they do in their pro careers and later lives, this is a run of two years that is truly remarkable.

And the further they go, the more remarkable it will be.

I meant juniors this, year. If they were seniors, not being ready to play would just be unbelivable.

It has less to do with their year in school than with the fact that they've already seen this movie. Its just harder to get up for it, I think. Especially when you are that young, its just harder to put in perspective.

The bad news is well known: the team seems determined to flirt with disaster every game and may well consumate that deal if they aren't careful. The good news is that if they decide to leave it all on the floor at some point, I really do think there is no one in the tournament that can beat them.

Agreed Law. I have you guys winning it all, so don't let me down.

Actually, my brackets done, so you can let me down no. Just don't lose to OSU.

As much as I want OSU to lose now, I think the best it could possibly be would be for UF to beat them in the Championship. Especially if it was a beatdown, which it would be if Florida actually left it all on the court.

That situation would make OSU Florida's b***h, and it would drive everyone here absolutely crazy. I may even get a Gator shirt to wear around here. Ok, no I wouldn't. That would be blasphemy.

LOL. Well, I certainly hope the Gators oblige you and put you in that conundrum.

I can't think of a worse scenario for us VOL fans if Florida wins back to back bball championships only months after winning the football national championship...I hope you guy lose by 40 to Oregon...:)

Mmmmm... We might lose, but doubt it will be by that kind of score.

Go ye Mighty Gators!

They saved the best for last this weekend. I didn't see anything in the tournament so far I've enjoyed more than watching Hibbert and Green turn "Sucko T" Hansbrough into their own personal plaything.

Georgetown, UCLA and UF were the only teams in their regions I wanted to lose. This must be my year.

I guess UF or Notre Dame will win the BCS this year too to make it complete.

Florida's biggest weakness is Corey Brewer handling the basketball. He draw fouls moving to the basket and he's an excellent defender, but if he is responsible for breaking a trap or beating a guy up the floor, he's fumblestilskin.
