NCAA To Smack Tennessee, Lane Kiffin -- NCAAFB FanHouse

The violation is related to improper recruiting contacts by Vol coaches and by Vol hostesses in the since disbanded Orange Pride program. What's more, in a stunning development that reaches across the country and implicates another of the nation's most-storied programs, the NCAA will also cite current USC head coach Lane Kiffin with a failure to monitor charge as well as additional citations against Kiffin's brother-in-law, David Reaves, formerly an assistant quarterbacks coach at Tennessee.

This is all kinds of bad. I am just concerned they'll hit hard over the 'lack of institutional' control issue.

Yeah, I don't know. And the article doesn't say. I'm not sure how Clay Travis can say the NCAA is going to "smack" Tennessee without elaborating. I guess writing your headline that way increases hits. There's really not much new information.

Stupid to hammer Tennessee for a year of small recruitig violations by a guy who is still in college football. NCAA has no business punishing anyone after the whole cam newton nonsense. No credibility.

Also I just don't believe it is a proper thing to punish a coaching staff and group of kids that didn't have anything to do with these allegations. It's not justice but rather a flexing of an institution that is considered weak and corrupt.

So the violations appear to be committed by people no longer here? How severe would punishments be for not monitoring minor violations?

How the hell is this gonna work? We get smacked down with a major violation (i.e. lack of control) and Kiffin gets to recruit 30 blue chippers to SC without so much as a "Can't you count to 15?"

Serious BS going on....

Reaves is going to be the main one in trouble. I'm just worried about how this fits into the larger investigation into our athletic department.

How are Reeves and Kiffin any different than Pearl. If the NCAA has evidence and they lied are they not under the same gun as well. This is terrible news and I feel bad for Dooley. Thanks Clay for keeping the Story quiet till today haha.

Possibly? Surely Dooley knows what's going on here... I'm hoping he can help in the consequences the school will receive. Even if it's a just a suggestion.

Point is that all but one don't deserved to feel any sort of punishment or backlash. Hell Corey miller didn't even do anything wrong. If you want to fine the school then thats ok. But if they punish the program because one guy broke the rules without Tennessee knowing for less than a year then that's not justice. It's the calipari effect and it's pathetic. IMO.
