VolQuest.com has confirmed through no less than six independent sources that the NCAA is probing Bruce Pearl's Volunteers basketball program. While there has been much discussion surrounding the recruitment of former five-star prospect Josh Selby, who listed the Vols as a finalist before picking Kansas, the NCAA's interest extends beyond Selby's recruitment.

Volquest.com has learned at the center of the NCAA's interest into Pearl's program is contact with recruits -- specifically telephone contact with prospects. At issue is whether or not there are violations concerning the number of contacts to a recruit either via phone calls or text messages, sources have indicated.

This is a portion of the report posted tonight by John Brice, with the full post available on VolQuest. More information should be available later tonight.

If the NCAA is investigating this stuff, I sure hope they are looking into what is going on at Kentucky.

Success breeds scrutiny. If they are looking into our coaches for trying too hard then I for one am glad.

They should start an investigation anytime John Calipari gets a job coaching basketball.

I've changed my mind about Calipari. He's obviously coated in Teflar and the best recruiter in the game by far. His last 2 classes were unreal. And he has Kentucky in EVERYONE'S Top 5. That's remarkable....

Alright hat. I see where you're going but surely you don't think REALLY that Pearl is Sampson-stupid. C'mon man!

He was stupid enough to think taping a conversation with a 17 year kid and turning it over to the 'AA was a good career move. You tell me.

I know this angle has been tirelessly purported but he was really young.

This story is old news, as it was posted and discussed a month or so ago. Its not just Tennessee thats under the microscope, its all schools including UK, Kansas and others who recruited him to the very end.

This is the truth. Selby is a flaming ****bag on the doorsteps of any team involved in his recruitment.

Don't be so quick to assume it's just a Selby issue.

If they think it happened with 1 recruit, wouldn't they naturally look at the others too?

Ok. So any conjecture on whom else it could be?

I can say with confidence several teams involved in the recruitment of Tobias Harris wondered how Tony Jones could get so close to that family with the limited contacts allowed by rule. Just saying.
