hurt us getting the best coach possible? I'm thinking we could land a Matt Campbell or Luke Fikell but the looming sanctions will make them pass. This might be one major reason we are forced to go the coordinator route or washed up coach like Gus.

Your thoughts on looming sanctions impact?

Rather have Gus than OC

It's more likely to affect how many years the next coach is here and how much we have to pay. I don't think anyone that would accept the job otherwise won't because of potential sanctions as long as the money is right. Usually that is going to mean not starting the clock on their buyout going down for the time frame we are on scholarship reductions.

Gus is 55 and has been a head coach since 2012. Got the Auburn job in 2013. I'm not saying he should be the top target, but we could do much, much worse, and I don't consider him washed up by any means.

I think the sanctions are a wash. It’s going to take minimum 2-3 seasons to fix the roster, and that’s best case scenario. The loss of scholarships will hurt that effort. So maybe we miss out on a poulan weed eater bowl? BFD.

I think the biggest deterrent is having to start over and losing a bunch of games when most of these coaches aren’t used to that.
