NCAA letter includes football

What would that mean for the football program? To me a lying basketball coach and secondary violations do not equate "lack of institutional control" for the football program.
You aren't including all the secondary violations under Kiffin and the fact we are being investigated in football for hostessgate. All of them together could end up in a lack of institutional control, but I will wait to see what the NCAA has to say first.

The "lack of institutional control" would be handed to the athletic dept and would encompass all.

What's it looking like for the football program?

I haven't kept up with it. Time to meander on over to the hoops forum.

Better hope yall (is that spelled right) get ahead early, otherwise the fastest defense in the country will shut down your passing game. Did I mention our two RB's were on the 4x100 team?

For those bashing our history compared to yours -I would rather have a team good in the present and future than in the past. It's going to be a long hike back up to ol rocky top for smokey.

You know... With USC on a downturn, and the way that Sarkisian has been recruiting up at Washington, I'd say that your goose is cooked. :dance2:

IIRC self-imposed penalties do help a lot if its minor. The fact that Kiffin is not there now probably won't help as much as you would think, but I can understand the reasoning.

The severity of what has happened to Pearl suggests to me that there is real concern that this could be substantial.

Next time the university has a telemarketer call me to ask for scholarship fund donations, I'm going to tell them to just use the unpaid 25% of Bruce Pearl's salary to cever me instead.

Unfortunately, this is of course going to be the big topic of conversation this weekend at the game and as to any coverage of it. And that is so simply because of the Kiffin angle. Going to have to hear all about that crap all over again, now.

I just hope that the NCAA will recognize Dooley's efforts to walk the straight and narrow. and also that Pearl confessed to his wrong doings and we are self imposing penalties beacuse of the newly found knowledge.
Besides, the success of Tennessee Football is good for the NCAA, especially financially. Why not try to help one of your top earners back to the top instead of keeping it at the bottom?
Just trying to keep a positive outlook on this thing.

I'm sure the geniuses at espn will enlighten us about our standing with the ncaa during the entire duration of our football game

I know we cant match you on tradition and its not close. And although our stadium is half as big, is probably just as loud. Oregon is trying to make it on the national radar for recruiting and is slowly getting there. With the facilities, uniforms, nike and winning now, I think UO will be relevant for awhile. They are on the road and the spread is bigger than LSU Vandy. Yes, I think this will be ugly for the orange. Not trying to instigate.

Right now...Right this minute we need to be focusing on the HUGE mountain we have to climb in beating the #7 ranked team in the country....IN THE LAND. Get your head on straight. Keep your chin up. Get ready to fight to the death. I don't want to hear you *****. Clear your mind and STEP UP. WE ARE TENNESSEE and that's why you came here!

How did it come to this? You have to try really hard to flag down the NCAA on the entire athletic program. It takes full cooporation of the entire athletic office to get the LoIC lable slapped on the school. Are the people in charge really this stupid?

Ugh, as a resident troll I have really come to despise these hit and run artists.
Is it because he said they are the fastest defense we will see this year? I have a feeling that the defense UF, Bama, and LSU put out are just as fast, if not faster. Not only that, but they are better athletes and will have a way better draft status.

Yep, think your right.

On the other hand, the violations may be very minor. Any respectable institution has to take a hard stance if one of their leaders is caught lying.

The REAL question is....HOW in the **** do you plan on handling it when we beat the Duck's *** tomorrow night in OUR HOUSE!?!?!?

That theory didn't seem to cross their minds when dealing with Alabama and Oklahoma.

Well, duh.

SEC solidarity, brother!

(P.S. I would pay real money to see it if our avatars could ... meet.)

Both, I might add, were repeat offenders. Alabama had already been threatened with the death penalty before this last ruling. They got off easy.

I'm sick...

God, I wish this would've waited until after the Oregon game. I just wanted to go into that game focused and ready to cheer. Now all I can think about is this sh!t.

yea, I got a feeling this is just the start of a bad weekend...

If there was ever a time a win could restore the moral of a fan base, it's tomorrow...
