NCAA hoops rule change proposals

The NBA line makes for more space inside the arc, since the majority of 3 pointers are still taken close to the line. It wouldn't affect 3 point shooting as much as it would 2 point shooting, with defenders being pulled outside.

Creating more space inside the arc presents more opportunities for creativity in offensive schemes, although the way colleges are copycatting the NBA game it would probably result in endless P&R's and hunting mismatches.

It really depends on what kind roster you have, because not everybody has a guy who can reliably break down defenders one on one. Plus the zone defense without a defensive 3 second violation means you have to move the interior defender somehow.

If a team goes zone, you're attacking different ways - out of the high post, moving it to the short corner, or overloading one side, and by crashing the offensive boards. The point is that more open floor inside the arc creates different scheme possibilities.
