FWIW, I think Richard Jackson is considered the volunteer assistant. Also, I think (but could be wrong) that a big expansion of the number of paid assistants would not be supported by enough conferences; that was the issue a few years ago in just trying to get approval for the third paid assistant. So how many volunteer coaches is baseball restricted to? I know currently you can only have 2 paid Assistants (ie Anderson and Elander). With the new rule, does this mean you have more than one Volunteer Coach? If so, does that mean that Jackson, Martinez, and Walsh will all be paid as of 7/1/23? Can we add more if budget allows? I think Evan Russell would make a terrific Coach.
Just verified that you can have one additional paid Assistant Coach. Jackson is the lucky (and well deserving man). Martinez and Walsh are Volunteer coaches and still unpaid.FWIW, I think Richard Jackson is considered the volunteer assistant.
