If you ever wanted to know why BB workers get a bad rap sometimes, it's from comments like that. You can get a stand-alone BluRay player for $500 now.

Not jumping on you, just pointing out that your 'schpeal' is a bit out-dated.

Well, that and the fact they sell Monster cables for a decent markup:)

Good God do they. Monster cables that go for about $80, we get for $4.97 with employee discount. And to DrRosenRosen, most people don't know what you know:) . Makes it a lot easier on us. Plus the cheapest Blu-Ray we have in the store is $1,000

I would like to stand in the accessories aisle in BB one weekend and slap anyone who buys an HDMI cable from there. These are the same people complaining about gas prices

Also, there's Blu-ray players on the BB website cheaper than $1k.

Sony reduced the msrp of the bdp-5300 this week to $500.

Still, your market for Blu Ray palyers isn't exactly huge at this time. If dual players come later this year/next year, it's all pretty much a moot point anyway.

I don't have a problem with BB per se. I just feel for people that go there, have no clue, and then get sold on stuff that is way overpriced or wrong for them.

Store by me is pretty good and the manager has been very friendly before knocking off prices to keep me in the store. In the end, smarter consumers will get what they need and in most cases, it wont be at BB. But, in a pinch or when you're paying regular retail prices anyway, it's fine with me.

Where can you get them (HDMI cable) super cheap? I honestly wouldn't know. I'm not in the market for one, but I'd like to see what else I can get for less $$$.

If you're serious...on their application, there is that personality test that takes about 40 min. Answer extremely agree or extremely disagree to all the answers. If you don't they think you're indecisive and you don't even get an interview.

is less than $20 bucks cheap enough? this isn't the only HDMI cable Newegg has to offer, either, I just pulled one at random.

CABLES UNLIMITED PCM-2295-06 6' HDMI Cable

you're not likely to find a cheaper price at any brick and mortar store. If you've never bought from Newegg, I can assure you that you won't be disappointed. sucks that they have a warehouse in Memphis though (means TN residents get to pay sales tax).

I'm a monoprice fan as well. Cables and assorted other audio/video needs. Their $29.99 wall mount for plasmas/lcds are just as good as the $199.99 jobs at BB and CC.

I've purchased 4 hdmi cables, a few long run component cables and the above tv mount over the last year. Never a problem.

Newegg is great, too, but the sales tax irks me and sometimes puts it more expensive than other options. I used to order a ton from there.

Yea, my buddy bought a 42 plasma last Nov. I remember him cussing about spending another 200+ for the wall mount and HD cables as we were walking through Best buy.

Thanks for the info guys. Guess I need to start doing a little more internet shopping from now on. :good!:
