nc state game... offense or defense 1st?

Too early?

If given the choice, do we trot our conceivably high power offense on the field first, or hope that our defense has learned enough of the new schemes to pound them into submission and set the tone for the game?

I know its a month away, but I'm bored of all the psu crap and want to look forward to the season starting.

I'll hang up and listen.

If it was up to me I'd go on defense. Find out what I'm up against. It's their first offensive possession of the season and if you stop them and then you score on them they are playing from behind and you get ball first in second half. Chance to go up two scores.

May just be me, but I always like defense first. I like the thought of getting it at the half.

Defend first. It's a win win. Either you can get a bigger lead or get some momentum coming from behind. Can't not work.

Even before you had the defer option, Legendary coach Wright Bazemore always wanted to be on D first. That is when the other team is the most nervous and you get to hit first and they are more likely to turn the ball over and give it to you in great field position. Defer to second half and go knock the crap out of them.

I like defense first.

Though I don't think I stand alone when I say I would love nothing more than the first play of the game to be Bray letting it fly right out of the gate and connecting for a huge gain or a TD (making a statement showing what UT ball will be this year)

Defense. I always like the Vols getting the ball first in the second half. If you get the stop to open the game, the opposition is already behind the proverbial 8 ball IF we score after their failed possession.

99 times out of 100 I'd rather play defense first. This game, I'd take the ball, the team has a little swagger right now and it's all based on the offense. Would be a little demoralizing to trot our brand new defense out there, have guys all keyed up and out of position and immediately be down seven.

Offense. Show everybody what they're up against this season. Deep to Hunter on the first play of the game.

Defense typically, but I say offense for this game and I would throw it until they stopped it. Tell Bray to throw it to 6 different receivers.

The offense isn't high powered yet and won't be until it has a chance to prove itself. Other than the openers vs the 2 lightweights last year, all I remember is the team that ranked 12th in scoring out of 12 in the SEC was UT. That leaves much room for debate about injuries etc., but in truth the final memory of that offense was the pathetic performance vs the worst Def in the league, Ky. And no, it does not matter that UT was without Hunter in that game and many others. Every team had injuries. SC lost the best RB in the conference and never missed a beat. This offense needs to prove it can run the damned ball before it is called high power.

You could have saved yourself this little rant by learning how to read. He said conceivably high powered offense.
